🧘 British Columbia friends: Are you looking for a great fall yoga retreat? We highly recommend Yoga with Dorothy Price and Santosha Yoga Retreats - her next retreat on Salt Spring Island at Stowel Lake Organic Farm Wellness Centre is October 9th-13th, 2024 - only a few spaces left! 🌺

🍂 Message from Dorothy: "Hi, Beautiful Souls! Come and enjoy the abundance on the farm. The cooler air; the changing colours; the darker evenings all make for a cozy time to be on the farm. Preparing you for the winter ahead.

🍏 Deepen your practice whether newly on the yoga path or an experienced yogi. Heal mind, body and soul. Surround yourself with the islands’ beauty. Enjoy delicious, vegetarian cuisine. Find inspiration for leading a healthier lifestyle. Meet like minded souls, create new friendships or seek solitude; all is possible.

🥧 Did you know that I plan the retreat so you can get home in time for Thanksgiving dinner, whether it be on Sunday or Holiday Monday? I would love to see you there! Dorothy xo"

🌊 “Throughout May, waved albatrosses on Española island start to lay their eggs, which are incubated for two months. By January the following year, their offspring have left the colony to spend the next six years out at sea.” via Galapagos Conservation Trust

A pair mates for life, and only one egg is raised each year. The male and female take turns with egg incubation. Once chicks hatch, they stay together in small groups while the parents go out to sea to hunt for food. While the pair may spend months apart out at sea, they come together again to Española island every year to breed. Their average lifespan is 30 years.

Young waved albatross start trying to fly at just 5-6 months, and at less than a year old, they head out to sea for up to six years, before they return home to choose a lifelong mate with their unique courtship dance 💙

📷 Wildlife Photography Lovers! 🐢 We’re excited to be working with incredibly talented wildlife photographer Bobby-Jo of Bobby Jo Safaris for a Galápagos cruise this June/July 2024! Originally from Australia, Bobby-Jo has been leading wildlife safari photography tours all over the world for more than 20 years.

🐘 How does she get incredible wildlife photos? She’s a qualified senior zoo-keeper of eighteen years, so her perception and insight into animal behaviour in the wild enables her and her guests to capture unique and endearing images. She has developed an ability to often interpret animal behaviour which leads to very special photographic opportunities.

⚠️ Important change to Galapagos National Park entry fees starting August 1st, 2024 🐢 (info below)

⚠️ GALAPAGOS PARK ENTRY FEE CHANGE! 🌊 Ecuador has revamped Galápagos entry fees to support long term conservation efforts. The most important change for foreign visitors; The $100 USD park entry fee will be increasing to $200 USD (for all foreign visitors age 13-65 or older - $100 USD for children 12 & under) starting on August 1st, 2024.

"The Galápagos Islands are not only a national treasure but a global one. It is our collective responsibility to protect and preserve this unparalleled ecosystem for future generations. The adjustment in the entry fee, the first in 26 years, is a necessary measure to ensure that tourism in the Galápagos remains sustainable and mutually beneficial to both the environment and our local communities." Niels Olsen, Ecuador Minister of Tourism.

The Government of Ecuador is committed to transparency, and pledges to provide regular updates on the projects & initiatives funded through the entry fees - including conservation efforts, upgraded facilities, and educational programs.

🇪🇨 Update from Ecuador 💙

⚠️ You may have heard in the news that Ecuador declared a 60-day state of emergency this week, due to the escape of a drug gang leader, and the following increase in criminal activity in some parts of the country. The President authorized military actions to enhance public security. On Mainland Ecuador there is a nightly curfew from 11pm to 5am. Schools & some government offices are closed, and some people are working from home during this time. The Ecuadorian people support the government’s actions 🇪🇨

Our tours will proceed as usual. The country's airports are operating normally, and there are no restrictions to entry. You'll see an increased security presence to ensure safety. Visitors with flights during curfew hours must show relevant documents (passport & flight tickets). Some foreign airlines have temporarily paused flights into Guayaquil. As always, check with your airline to confirm flights.

Hotels, restaurants, markets and shops in Quito remain open. Proceed with caution while travelling on Mainland, and seek advice from our team, your hotel staff, or locals. We have our own transportation (1 small bus), with experienced local drivers and guides.

From the Ecuador Ministry of Tourism on January 11th, 2024: “In the Amazon, Galapagos Islands & national parks, tourism is operating normally. There have been no reported interruptions in any tourist services.” Please note: There is no curfew in Galapagos.

We're monitoring the situation closely from a variety of official sources. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope for a swift return to normalcy 💙
