Established in 2002, Pema Choling is the vision of Gangteng Tulku Rinpoche, ninth body incarnation of the Pema Lingpa lineage of the Nyingma school of Buddhism. In 2005, construction of the Institute began in the sacred Tang valley, very close to the "Burning Lake" where Bhutan's patron saint, Pema Lingpa, revealed Buddhist treasures in the 15th century.
