Hello Camrose!

Thank you so much for all your support, we appreciate you so much! With your help we were able to raise $652.12 for the Camrose Women's Shelter Society last week! We will update you all when we have had a chance to deliver the donations 😀

This week we are collecting donations for Neighbor Aid (Food bank and many other services). Thank you all for your support and thank you to all of our volunteers that made this possible, we appreciate you!

Food recovery programs through Starbucks and KFC allows us to deliver flash frozen sandwiches, baking, and chicken to our clients throughout the region! Sometimes this means school lunches support, sometimes it means a special Friday dinner. Thank you to these local businesses for supporting our families!

Good morning Camrose!
What a scorching hot day it was yesterday... The other thing that was smokin hot was our donation vehicle with Tammy behind the wheel!! We were able to raise $252.52 for the Camrose Women's shelter on our first day of fundraising! A big shout out to all those that gave donations and also to Tammy who volunteered her time. It's going to be another hot day, so try to stay cool, and remember if you need a ride in an air conditioned clean vehicle with a friendly driver call Absolute Taxi Camrose AB where we are happy to provide quality service.

Question: How long have you/your business been assisting the shelter and what has been your role?

Answer: 8 years. I have just recently joined the team as a designer and sign fabricator in the summer of 2023.

Question: If you could wish one thing for the women and children at the shelter, what would that be?

Answer: I’d hope they have the proper foundation, tools, and resources to grow to their best potential. A good support network and community is incredibly important to overcome adversity in my opinion

Did you know that from the time period of January - December 2023, 130 women with 140 children were served at the Camrose Women's Shelter Society?? 35 women were from Central Alberta with the length of stay ranging from 2-63 nights.

Feeling grateful this week as Boston Pizza Camrose donated $902 in proceeds from their annual Valentine's Day Heart Shaped Pizza campaign.

We are hiring!

The Camrose Women’s Shelter Society in partnership with FIRST (Flagstaff’s Informed Response Sharing Team Society) have designed a program to target the root causes of GBV in rural and remote East Central Alberta as well as urban Camrose. Over 18 months this project will target a population geographically larger than the city of Calgary as both Camrose and Flagstaff Counties cover over 10,000 square kilometers, some of it very rural and remote.

The project will provide 1 Rural Outreach GBV Primary Prevention Coordinator to facilitate groups which challenge biases and stereotypes towards Gender Based Violence, establish HOPE group or a similar group in the rural areas, facilitate Cut it Out groups with rural businesses, and also working with GBV victims or possible victims, whether that is to identify abuse rather than dismiss or to create safety plans for rural communities in the event of future abuse for those who do not want to leave the relationship.

The scope of the project is to enhance awareness, provide education and create action towards groups most at risk of experiencing GBV. If this sounds like a program you want to be involved in let us know by applying at:
