Calgary based wedding, portrait and commercial photography
Our dogs are an integral part of our lives.
So should you have your dog at your wedding?
My default is always yes, because every occasion I have had to photograph a wedding with a dog, the expectations have been reasonable for each individual dog.
Having a person to help you manage a schedule for your dog is a great help.
Is your dog highly trained like this gorgeous good boy? Then they can be a part of the ceremony!
If they are nervous around too many people and are reactive? Include them for photos with the couple and then have a sitter.
A few ideas but ultimately it is good judgement based on your dog's behavior, and you will know!

Exit perfected.
If your venue has beautiful features like this balcony at , let's make it a part of your story!

For this session, I would normally shoot with a wide aperture for shallow depth of field.
I wanted to make sure the location, which was a part of the proposal, was visible. We don't always need to shoot wide open.
I love this moment. Summer is here!
The Calgary Zoo is a lovely place for weddings. We got photo bombed by a peacock.

I love these people. They opted for a post wedding session in place of the included engagement session and I love it! Black and white is becoming less and less popular and I am hoping for a revival because I love it. It's in my bones as my first year of Journalism, we used black and white film 35 mm format.
Here are some suggestions for taking photos with motion blur:
Timing. This works best in lower light. Depending on your cameras features, you may not be able to slow the shutter speed
To keep the blur looking intentional, the background works better if it is relatively sharp. This is a good time to use a monopod, tripod or simply anchoring your elbows into your ribs and have your feet in a steady stance - human tripod!
Most cameras come with shutter priority or a variation of. This is the setting you can use for this affect, around 1/25 or 1/15 is a good place to start.
Have fun and play around with it!
Some recent work of a new direction of working in and with the Indigenous and Métis Community. I will share more soon.

I love this time of year. What is your favourite part of spring? Would you book a spring session or wait until fall?

I love to document newborn sessions. I also love the first year of all things new and exciting. I am happy that I now have several options to choose from from maternity to annual photos!
You get a range of options for sessions as well as prints, albums and cards.
How cute is this little guy with his tuft of red hair?
Ice skating in the mountains? Yes please!
This Banff Area engagement session with the sweetest couple! I was lucky to photograph her sister's wedding in Banff as well!
It's a skill I decided to dust off and I love ice skating again.
If you are concerned about certain things like red hands or a blemish, let me know! Generally I like to leave images alone and let your natural beauty shine. I understand that zit happens and will edit them for you if you wish. I got you!

This moment was so sweet to watch.
I am sending it out but despite all of the regular updates, Lightroom keeps crashing. Does anyone else get tech rage!
Her veil lined up with the lines in the mountains! I love serendipity like that. It happens a lot at weddings!
This wedding is slowly loading! I am having trouble with LR crashing. It is painfully slow. Unfortunately I am getting backed up. She goes in to Apple service Tuesday. Do you get tech rage?
Hello! Catching my breath. What a busy summer and fall. In the summer we stayed home and I started working out again. We went hiking a lot and talked a lot. I felt refreshed and fell in love with photography again. I did a hard reset.
This beauty is part of a project; I am in the early stages. Congrats to her, she is a badass new mama nataasha
Happy Monday!
Put on your pretty knickers and have a great day😘
When I am away, Colin takes Jimmy to work. Apparently Jimmy didn't help with POs but improved morale.
Doggo snuggles are a great office perk, especially on cold days like this 🥰 We hope you're staying cozy this wintery Sunday 💙
Tag us in your pet adventures at Golden Acre to be featured on a future Pet Sunday 🐾
As Pride month comes to an end today, we cannot take it for granted.
June was also the month in which Indigenous Peoples Day took place, celebrating culture and ancestral knowledge.
Tomorrow I will be wearing orange, same as last year, and taking time to honour our First Nations, Métis and Inuit people.
For many, this month has been trying for human rights. On the upside, we had Pride month and Indigenous Peoples Day. Tomorrow I will wear orange and hold off on celebration of a colonial holiday and pay respect to my ancestors and all the little children found and waiting to be found.
Happy Monday everyone! Onward we go through the week. My Monday Motivation is to remember to tune into my passion and take it with me from session to delivery.
We can make it until spring. This winter has been pretty tough. I've been through it before and I know it gets better.

The first week schools were closed for then called, Corona Virus. So much has changed in that time for him.

So I realized the last three posts were of cats and dogs. Obsessed, I guess. Here. A beautiful family. Family photos where mom and dad got married. I wasn't there for their wedding but I did get to do an engagement session! Scroll back, way back to snowy Lake Louise.
The stylish pupper says have a relaxing late fall weekend. Swipe for some golden hour goodness.

Things are about to get pretty colourful here but I still have so much summer green to share!
Why did I include the last shot? ( I think the groom did stand-up) Because it is funny and cute. Those may not make a website gallery, but you will have them for memories.
They were staying in Banff and it was a rainy fall morning. We had so much fun.
They were married there too.
We were required to wear masks as we moved around, but they could take them off for photos only.
This policy is what I am also requiring for indoor sessions. Outdoor not required.
Feel free to comment but if you please be respectful or I will block you hard.
Sunrise love. More coming from this magic sunrise proposal.
And pinch and zoom. It's gorgeous.
