Like most post-secondary institutions, the University of Alberta values diversity and their engineering department is no different. Diversity in Engineering - University of Alberta (DivE) is a student group that advocates for the retention, inclusion, and interests of systemically marginalized groups in engineering.

On March 21st, CIMA+s own Victoria Ly, was a panelist at the DivE’s Mixer for Underrepresented Genders in Engineering. The event brought together undergrads, industry professionals and researchers with the goal of helping form connections with underrepresented people within engineering. Representation matters and showing diverse students that engineering is a field where they can thrive, build careers and network just as they are is essential to the growth of the profession.

CIMA+ is committed to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion, and we applaud Victoria for her efforts in supporting awareness of diversity in engineering.

At CIMA+, we champion opportunities for skilled engineers and advocate for fellow companies to embrace the spirit of diversity wholeheartedly.

Recently, Tom Montgomery, Cian Murphy, P.Eng, Jaime Boutilier, PEng, PMP, and Shahid Pasha attended a thought-provoking luncheon supporting the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 / Musée canadien de l'immigration du Quai 21. The event's highlight was the remarkable presence of Gina P. Cody, C.M., serving as the keynote speaker.

During her speech, Gina Cody, a distinguished CIMA+ Board of Directors member, shared her inspirational immigrant journey. Arriving in Canada in 1951, her family's hard work mirrors the resilience and sacrifice evident in countless immigrant narratives that contribute to shaping our nation's rich and diverse identity. As she eloquently stated, her achievements were “only limited by her dreams.”

Join us in fostering a culture that values skill, diversity, and innovation to shape a brighter future. We invite you to visit our Career Centre and explore the diverse opportunities available at CIMA+.
