Meet 'Herringbone'
She is the best adoptive mum, and a tremendous example of the maternal traits of the Icelandic Landrace. ❤️
She sat diligently on some dud eggs for close to 30 days before we were able to give her 19 chicks to look after. She has mothered them so well, and is quite happy teaching them to free range and dust bathe.
New grow out digs for this import hen & chicks
Day old chicks will be available on August 18th
This will be the last hatch of the season.
Not to be outdone is the Hlesey flock hatching yesterday & today 🇨🇦
Some fresh hatchlings from the Colorado import from Isai Pexton ❤️
New chicks at the sister flock
Oh boy, I came home to two broody hens with a hoarde of eggs under each of them.
These girls are from Ruth's original flock. Currently the two flocks (Ruth's & Isai's) are separated from one another as I've had some requests for chicks from the US flock specifically and from the Hlesey flock I originally got from Ruth.
Mixed hatching eggs are available from the sister flock down the road who are first, second and third generation from the two.
