These two owlets flew on a borrowed set of wings last week to for rehabilitation. Pilot Maciej volunteered to take these young great horned owls from the Thunder Bay, ON area to Niagara, ON.

A frequent flyer with Canadian Wings of Rescue, Maciej and his crew member saved these owlets an over 15 hour drive to access the specialized care they require.

We’re looking forward to their full recovery and release in the coming weeks. A big thanks to Maciej and all our volunteer pilots for all they do!

Combine one Persian cat, a litter of kittens, and two dedicated pilots to get a renewed hope for almost a dozen feline friends!

Earlier this week, Pilots Phil and Jayson each flew a leg of a journey from Fort St. John, BC to Boundary Bay, BC. Garbanzo, the cat, needed specialized medical care which wasn’t available in his area and the kittens are hoping to be adopted into forever homes in the Vancouver area soon.

With the flying season in full swing, we’re looking for pilots with a PPL to join us and help fulfil our purpose of leaving no animal behind.

Another transport is complete! healed and rehabilitated the peregrine falcon we delivered to them with the help of Pilot Clay a few weeks ago. With a clean bill of health she was ready to return home to Kingston, ON this weekend! 🏞️

Pilot Gerd, alongside his awesome co-pilot (his sweet mom🥰), picked up our feathered friend near Burlington, ON.

Here’s a heartwarming update from Nancy, our receiving partner in Kingston, about the release: “I met Gerd at the Kingston airport and the transfer went very well. When we peeked through the cage bars our guest was sitting at the back of the cage staring out. We opened the cage door and she paused, took a step back before taking off and up.

Roland, who released her, was also one of the people that found her on the ground injured. He couldn’t believe the change in her and the strength that she had.”

Huge thanks to everyone involved in this incredible journey and welcome home, beautiful falcon! 🦅💚💖

Access to veterinary care is a critical, yet sometimes overlooked, need in remote communities. Canadian Wings of Rescue and our partners like, , aim to change that.

In our latest blog post, hear from Bianca Del Bois, Urban Tails Rescue founder, who shares how access to vet care in remote areas creates a ripple effect of positivity for communities.

We accommodate vet transports a few times a year. Our volunteer pilots make these trips possible.

We’re looking forward to working in partnership with Bianca and the team at Urban Tails Rescue to bring veterinarians to other remote communities in later this year.

All pets are special and sometimes rescues need a little help to get the really special ones where they need to be. Canadian Wings of Rescue can help!💪

Over two days, Sioux, a sweet Bouvier des Flandres girl, made her way from Guelph, ON > Moncton, NB > Deer Lake, NL where her new adoptive parents live. Sioux suffers from anxiety issues so her transport required extra care and planning ❤️

We worked closely with Bouvier Rescuers of Ontario Canada to plan this trip and our volunteer pilots Maciej and Paul made it happen! We’re thrilled to see Sioux settling in beautifully at her new east coast home.

Curious about flying with us? It’s easy to sign up and browse our available transports with no obligation. Visit our website https://buff.ly/43WJFBA to find out more.

We can't believe the year it's been so far! We've had a busy first six months of 2024 with our pilots, volunteers, partners, and animals at the heart of it all. Pilots registered from almost every province and territory, with ongoing efforts to expand our reach. We've welcomed new pilots to the team, each contributing to our mission of saving lives.
From coyotes and raptors like owls and falcons to pets like dogs and cats (even hairless!), we've flown a diverse range of animals this year. With over 20 cats already transported and a queue of 6-7 animals awaiting their flights, our impact is growing steadily.

Averaging a flight a week, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of these animals. Let's continue this mission together and strive to fulfill the needs of dozens of flights this summer.

Weather conditions were optimal earlier this week for our two volunteer pilots, Amy and Stephen, who each flew a leg of a very important trip! Chase, a one-year-old lab mix, needed to be moved from a shelter near Winnipeg, MB to Leamington, ON where we hope he’ll be adopted.

Our pilots reported that Chase slept for most of the trip – cruising at 9,000 ft will do that to you! Over 1,700 km were flown today across two provinces and we couldn’t be more grateful to our pilots. We’re always accepting new pilots to help us help our partners and the animals they support. We welcome all pilots in good standing with at least a private pilot license (PPL).

Wishing Chase more sweet dreams!

Remember the Snowy Owl that our pilot Tom Torokvei transported earlier this week? He has been successfully released to the wild 🤩

This owl was hatched at the Owl Foundation as part of their conservation efforts. When his box was opened, the owl flew into the field and sat there for a few minutes, perhaps taking some time to thank his human companions. He eventually flew off over the treetops - back home 🌲🌲🌲

It's so rewarding to see our stories come full circle! You can help us make an impact in animal conservation by donating through our website ❤️

This owl was reported a bit cranky getting in his "box" for the flight this morning - if he only knew what awaited in Moosonee ... also, he will never fly this high again.

Our Snowy owl passenger had been in the care of for a few months, being prepared for release. Our pilot Tom Torokvei flew the owl yesterday to Moosonee, ON where wildlife specialists will release the owl back to the wild. Stay tuned for more updates on the owl's release!

We are so proud to play our part in protecting keystone species in Canada!

Today, our pilot had the rare opportunity to fly two birds, a Peregrine Falcon and a Long Eared Owl 🦉 🪶

He started his day early in the morning, picking up our falcon friend from Kingston, ON and flew the bird to The Owl Foundation in St. Catherine's to be rehabilitated for release.

Clay then picked up a healthy and happy Long Eared Owl from the Owl Foundation. Flying back to Kingston, he handed the owl off to local wildlife specialists. This owl will soon be released close to the city where its family unit nests!

Both these species are endangered, so each rehabilitation goes a long way! A huge thanks today to wildlife rescue heroes across the country working to protect our environment for generations to come 👏 🙌
