We all want our person to look at us the way he looks at her, am I right? 🥹 😍 got me feeling all the feelings today from this shoot!

When you think disco ball, you likely associate it with that glorious disco era of the 70s. You may be surprised to discover that what we know today as the "mirror ball" dates much farther back than bell bottom jeans and Saturday Night Fever.

It was actually 1897, where we see first mentions of the mirror ball. Yes, 1897!!
An electricans union gathered for their annual ball. They intended to cast light that "could be seen all over Boston." In order to accomplish this, they set off to develop incandescent lamps and a carbon arc that reflected off what they referred to as a mirror ball in a publication of 'The Electrical Worker', where they discusses the group’s event and their most notable decorations!

In 1917, the first patent was filed by Louis Bernard Woeste. Louis went into production, where they sold at Stephens and Woeste throughout the 1920s. It was short lived however due to the Great Depression where Stephens and Woeste inevitably stopped production of the mirror ball. It wasn't until 1940 before the design was picked up by "Omega National Products," where the demand skyrocketed!

Omega continues to produce mirror balls for high-profile clientele, such as Beyoncé and Madonna, as well as hit television shows like “Dancing With the Stars” and even the Oscars!!

Fast forward to the present day, we see them incorporated in a variety of ways: Shimmering above a dance floor, scattered down the head table, nestled in floral arrangements, or hanging in our windows at home.

It's an effective way to liven up any space! 🪩

This weekend we transformed The Membertou Trade Centre into a snowy escape for the 2024 United Way Gala!

I could have not made it through this weekend without the girls! They were rock stars! They are an absolute force and an integral part of making this all happen.

We hope everyone has a great time and raises lots and lots of money for an important cause!
