y initiative. Child & Youth Friendly Saskatoon honours 64 businesses and organizations who have signed the Child & Youth Friendly Declaration. The purpose of declaring your organization child and youth friendly includes:

Recognizing the equal and inalienable right of all people to the fundamental rights of freedom, justice and peace, and that: * everyone is entitled to these rights, regardless of age, race, colour, creed or other status
* young people are entitled to special care and assistance in assuming their rightful place in society
* all people should be responsible owners of their community, and share responsibility for the well-being of children and youth in their community

AND, recognizing that;

* a child and youth friendly community is one in which all young people are safe, secure, nurtured, honoured and valued
* all young people can contribute and the significance of their contribution will be recognized
* all young people need opportunities to develop a sense of responsibility and ownership over their actions "



Organizational Affirmation

This organization affirms that:
* the treatment of all young people shall be positive and consistent, regardless of race, colour, creed or other status
* the best interest of young people will be considered when organizational plans are made and policies set
* we respect the rights and value the well-being of the children and families of our employees
* young people will be protected from exploitation that is harmful to their physical, mental, moral or social development, or that interferes with their education
* this organization will be pro-active in advancing the child & youth friendly ethic, both within the company and in the wider community
* the organization's affirmation of the rights of young people will be reviewed annually to ensure our continued commitment to the ideals of a child & youth friendly community, taking action where needed.
