CFUW Day Proclaimed for Saskatchewan
September 14 has been officially proclaimed as Canadian Federation of University Women's Day in Saskatchewan.
On behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan, Minister for the Status of Women, Laura Ross, made the proclamation. The day marks the historic and current work of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) in addressing issues of importance to women and supporting higher education.
CFUW is represented by clubs in Saskatoon, Prince Albert. and Yorkton, as well as e-members in Regina and Moose Jaw. Saskatchewan members are also a part of the National CFUW organization, which includes 6,500 members from 94 clubs across Canada.
In Saskatoon, the largest club in the province provides numerous scholarships for University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Polytechnic students. In Yorkton, the club founded in 1954 has worked on many initiatives including establishing the Yorkton Public Library, donations to local organizations, and scholarships for local high schools, the college ,and the Yorkton Music Festival. Since 1931, the CFUW Prince Albert advocated for the first regional library in the province, provided community educational opportunities and supported the arts, and provides seven scholarships annually to high school graduates funded by the annual book sale.

The Modern Books Group, comprised of passionate readers, meets monthly to review a diverse selection of books and engage in lively discussions. Each meeting includes two book reviews and a "Quickie Corner," where members share and discuss additional reads.

CFUW Hamilton funds scholarships and bursaries, empowering young women in their academic journeys.

Join us on the fourth Friday of every month at 10:00 am! At each meeting, we dive into books on a fun, themed topic.
