ABUNDANCE LENTIL SOUP RECIPE (Czech tradition) Lentils bring luck and abundance throughout the year.
Lentil New Year Day soup
300 gr of green lentils - (soak for 6 hours and rinse)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion
1 garlic sliced
1 carrot- peeled, diced
2 potatoes - peeled, diced
1 litre of vegetable broth (not chicken)
Seasoning: Salt, Pepper,
3 bay leaves
All spice (whole)
Marjoram
Optional Ham ( I like the Rosemary Ham in the soup)
Add olive oil to the pot (or butter) sauce onion cut in small pieces, & garlic, add the carrot, and potato (and diced ham if using). Saute, add the broth and seasoning.
Cook - suitable for slow cooker or in a pot. π
If using slow cooker - saute in a pan and place to slow cooke to cook π

Do you "watch" or count calories or nutrition ?
While it seems an easy approach to only count calorie in and calorie out, if we don't also take in consideration the macronutrients and micronutrients and it's balance all that wrapped in calories :) we may not get the results we want.
My goal has always been a sustainable weight (loss and also) maintenance)
The truck is to put a bit of effort and interest in what we eat most of the time. :)
Few things to watch for:
- protein
- fiber
- calories
If you focus on that you may not even to worry about the rest.there will be no room for the "other" π
My plate is a sample (well I already ate some of my protein of the plate π before taking the photo) of a quick lunch, balanced and protein sufficient. πͺ
Eating healthy is not complicated. But sometimes we just make it so.
How do you keep your food, nutrition and calories in check ?
One of easiest way to figure out the "fat" issue is to concentrate on consumption of the healthier fats most of the time. :)
Every lasting healthy lifestyle change starts outside of our comfort zone.

3 ways to make a soup into a high protein and low calorie meal π
- add egg whites at the end of cooking or heating up
- add cut up tofu in your soup
- add protein powder with no taste or complimenting the soup type ( I use high protein instant chicken soup mix or plain protein 5 gr of protein for only 20 calories!
There you go - complete protein meal. π₯°
