RISE to Kind Leadership: How Kindness Inspires Inclusivity

In celebration of International Women's Day (IWD) and its goal to work towards a world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive, CNAR is extremely pleased to feature Dr. Bonnie Hayden Cheng, Associate Professor and MBA Program Director at the HKU Business School, Hong Kong University. Drawing on her work with organizations from around the world and most recent research about why kindness in leadership matters, attendees will:

- Critically reflect on leadership behaviour and its impact on employee well-being
- Unpack and demystify what “kind leadership” is really about, de-stigmatizing it as a “feminine” leadership trait
- Learn about the RISE framework and its applications to shift towards “kind leadership” that is genderless
- Explore the power of language in leadership and develop awareness of how the language that is often used reveals unconscious biases that hold women back - and learn how to pivot to avoid using such language

Registration Now OPEN! September UnLearn and Learn Session: Truth and Reconciliation

CNAR will host an “UnLearn and Learn” in September in advance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th. During this virtual event, you will have the opportunity to learn about a framework for Truth and Reconciliation through Treaty Implementation (TRTI), and the efforts of one regulatory body to respond to the Calls to Action for Truth and Reconciliation.

Rhett Sangster, Director of Reconciliation and Community Partnerships and Joni Brass, Truth and Reconciliation Data Coordinator, at the Office of the Treaty Commissioner (OTC), will present the TRTI framework as an example of how organizations can take a holistic approach to think about, act on, and evaluate Truth and Reconciliation efforts.

Pamela Kovacs, Senior Policy Counsel, Law Society of Saskatchewan, will share the Law Society of Saskatchewan’s experience working with the OTC and TRTI framework and the initiatives it has been undertaking on its journey of Truth and Reconciliation. This includes bringing together an Advisory Group, developing a formal commitment to reconciliation with an action plan, reviewing regulatory processes and structures, providing opportunities for competency and awareness training, and collaborating and building relationships with Indigenous organizations. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences, as time permits.

CNAR’s UnLearn and Learn series aims to support the regulatory community in its work and learning journey in equity, diversity, and inclusion, and truth and reconciliation.

Registrant feedback indicated great demand for a more in-depth workshop on gender diversity and inclusion, which we are now pleased to announce will take place on July 12. Yesterday CNAR hosted our very first International Symposium, 'Regulation in a Changing World,' where we learned more about professional regulation in terms of the global landscape, artificial intelligence, truth and reconciliation, and compassionate regulation from our international counterparts. We thank our speakers (who joined us live from Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the US) for making this such a fascinating and interactive virtual event. We also thank all attendees who joined us for an in-depth day of learning and sharing global perspectives.

Scheduled to take place virtually on May 17th, 2023, this exciting event will open with a live fireside chat with Harry Cayton, facilitated by Bradley Chisholm, Principal, The Regulator’s Practice. CNAR April 17th Workshop - Register Today! Protecting the Integrity of your Exam Program: How to Leverage Data Forensics and Take Action

Identifying suspected exam fraud and taking action as early as possible is a crucial component of exam security and the integrity of an exam program. This workshop will provide practical guidance on the types of analyses proven to detect cheating and procedures for identifying associated exam questions, exam forms, and candidates for further investigative action. Analyses will range from simple statistical checks that can be easily implemented to more complex methods like score pattern and response similarity analysis. Examples will be presented of results consistent with normal testing behavior, as well as results from confirmed incidences of test fraud.
