Quilting Farm Girl
Memory Pillows, T-shirt blankets and Longarm Quilting #QUILTINGFARMGIRL
Well isn’t that a nice BONUS. It must be my lucky day. 🤩
Congratulations to my customer Evelyn from Carman for achieving the Ollie McCullough Memorial BEST QUILT Award at the Carman Fair this past weekend (for the fifth year in a row)!!! WOW 🤩 I have had the pleasure of custom quilting this year’s and last year’s winning quilts. Absolutely stunning piecing in these quilts. Way to go!
This quilt made by my customer has been gifted so I can finally share it’s elegant beauty. A gift from mother to daughter that I’m sure will be cherished for years to come.
Some close up pictures of my Rodeo Round Up quilt that I displayed at our local quilt show. If you love this quilt you’ll have to go buy some silent auction tickets in June at the annual Rocking W Barrel event. Proceeds raised will go to South Central Cancer Resource.
Remember those beautiful threads I posted about. Here’s what they were for. I recently quilted this stunning block of the month quilt made by my customer Joan. It should have arrived by mail in Thompson by today. It was SO much fun custom quilting each block with a different design. Which block is your favourite?
I just have to admire these beautiful thread colors for a minute before I start using them. 🤩🥰😍 I’m working on custom quilting a customer quilt with these colors so I had to order in the perfect match to accent her piecing.
I’m looking forward to seeing many of your quilts at our local show. It’s seems to be coming up fast. I’ll keep this short because I have to get back to quilting. 😁 To submit your quilts, fill out the online form on the barnswallowquilters.wordpress.org website and come enjoy the show the first weekend of May.
A fabulous group of ladies who love to create and serve. Since fall most Wednesdays the Glencross “Quilting with a Purpose” come and go group have been meeting to create and stitch up quilts for missions and donations. This year, as a group, there are almost 30 quilts ready to donate. Two of these quilts (Floral Devotion and Fall throw quilt) will be auctioned off at the Glencross Church annual mission sale this Friday Mar 22 at 7pm to raise funds for missions. This auction is open to the public so feel free to come bid.
I recently had the opportunity to quilt this beautiful floral quilt. It was pieced by the Glencross Church Ladies quilting volunteers and will be auctioned off to raise money for missions later this month. I chose the stitching pattern “Devotion” by Hermione Agee with rows of hearts 💕. I think it looks stunning on the red backing!!! Don’t you?
TIP TUESDAY!!!! Do you ever have wrinkles in your batting from being squashed in a package or on a roll? Here’s what I do to easily fix the situation.
• spritz generously with water
• throw batting into the dryer for 15 minutes
DONE ✅ See last picture for the results. It works like a charm every time and saves a lot of ironing.
I’m back in my quilting studio 🤩. If you follow my personal page you may have seen that I’ve been away from home A LOT in the last few weeks. 2 weeks out of the last 3 we’ve spent travelling, first to Mexico 🇲🇽 for a super relaxing week and then home for a week…then back on a plane ✈️ to Ottawa for another week to watch my son curl. Both trips were amazing but I’m definitely done with travelling for a bit and glad to be back in my happy place (quilting and sewing).
Added a few new pantographs in the new year. Link in my Bio to check them out on my website.
Thank you for a great year! Looking forward to seeing more of your quilts this year ! Here’s to a happy and healthy year filled with all the things you love! ❤️
I usually wait until December to put up Christmas decorations but I got this Silent Night panel quilted ahead of schedule so I decided to hang it early. I thought it was fitting to use the “Study in C” musical 🎶 pantograph by by Hermione Agee (Urban Elementz).
This is one of my favourite Christmas songs. What’s yours?
I’m stocked up on batting and ready for your fall/winter quilts. In addition to my regular Warm & Natural batting, I also now have stock of the Warm & White batting which is great for quilts with white or light fabric backgrounds where you don’t want the natural flecks showing through.
You can book your finished quilt tops online or by calling me directly and we can arrange for drop off or pick up. I’m looking forward to seeing and working on your quilts.
I made this simple quilt for someone close who has been through so much in the last year and a half. My mother in law is so strong and we are blessed to have her still with us.
This quilt is just a little something to spruce up her new place. I tried to pick colors that she likes and when it came to binding, I couldn’t find the right color to compliment both sides equally so I attempted a double sided binding for the first time making the quilt completely reversible. 🤩
I love how it turned out!!
I have a bit of an addiction to buying precut charm squares and mini charm squares. A whole drawer full in fact. 🤣 I decided I should try and actually see some together so that my drawer doesn’t overflow…and of course to make room for MORE. Lol
Here’s a couple of sets ready for quilting. Which is your favourite colour combination? Teals or Pink/Purple?
I added a couple of new pantographs (stitching patterns to my website today. I’m starting to see some wintery quilts so snowflakes are making an appearance with the .
Music 🎼 🎶 of course can be for any time of the year but could definitely add some pizazz to your Christmas quilts which I know will be coming soon 😉
It’s getting close to pumpkin season around here. I didn’t plant any in my garden but I got to quilt this “MIDSUMMER” quilt that Road 17 N used some fabulous pumpkin fabrics. Go check out their post for kit and pattern information.
Even though summer is busy with farming I’m still managing to squeeze in some longarming quilts for customers. I think quilting is a must for my mental health 😁.
This “Rainy Days” quilt was for Road 17 Quilt Shop. Go check out their page/store for more details on this beautiful quilt pattern. I used the pantograph “Obsidian” by Natalie Gorman (Urban Elementz) for an all over texture.
A recent customer of mine had a great idea 💡. Thank you!!! She included a hand written note pinned to each quilt she sent with all the details requested for each one.
Read more about it on my website or request a printable copy by emailing me.

In between baseball games this weekend I joined some friends and went to the Peace Gardens on the 🇺🇸 USA/CANADA 🇨🇦 border, I found this beautiful quilt at the Conservation Museum along with a few animal friends 😄. Some of the flowers at the Peace Gardens looked like they were planted as quilt blocks.
How awesome is this! 🏆 My customer Evelyn won Best in Show at the Carman Fair Exhibition for her beautiful star quilt that I had the pleasure of custom quilting.
She did such a fantastic job matching all the fabric prints in the many diagonal seams. The quilt really is stunning 🤩 in person.
I finished my Patchwork Duffle bag just in time to gift it to my niece visiting from South Carolina as a Graduation gift. I absolutely love 💗 how this bag turned out and I’m definitely going to be making another one.
I used a “Flowers For Freya” charm pack and a grey grunge for the lining and handles. The colours are 👌.
Can I keep it? Just kidding!
Happy CANADA 🇨🇦 DAY from my studio! I’ve had plenty of days off for family stuff so today I am working a bit.
Check out these “Rainbow Barns” They have kits and patterns to make this adorable quilt. See their post for more details.
A couple of small quilts delivered to a customer this past week. I’m still quilting when I can between spraying fields, boys baseball games and other family obligations.
I need some suggestions on best quilt pattern for these charm squares and fat quarters. …and GO!
HAPPY EASTER!!!! This week I finished this unfinished project that I thought was in my pile of “to do” for maybe a couple of years. I happened to be looking back at pictures and realized that it’s a project I did with my boys in 2016 😆😮. That’s 7 years it’s been sitting waiting to be quilted. Lol. Look at those cuties 🥰
Anyway, I did some quick and curvy feathers and some echoes around the Easter eggs.
P.S. If you’re wondering how we made the picture, it was by drawing with crayons onto sandpaper and then ironing that onto fabric. Not sure exactly what it was called but the kids loved it.
A day to remember, GOOD FRIDAY!!
