Dear members of the REC community,
We would like to thank you for your donations during our hiking event. The funds we collected went to the True North Aid, a Canadian registered charity to their āSupplies to Thrive' program which aims to provide cost of shipping of essential goods that are not easily accessible and affordable by the Northern Indigenous communities in Canada.
ā¢ā¢ā¢
Below is a thank you message we received from :
Thank you for your generous donation and that you have chosen to give through True North Aid.
As we wind down another year, we are reminded of the challenges that Indigenous peoples continue to face. While we see hints of change, there is so much that remains to be done. We continue to walk in solidarity, to educate and to encourage change, a responsibility we all share.
The practical needs have not lessened. Prices are continuing to climb and basic needs must still be met. Because of your partnership, we have been able to provide support through many programs this year. Through our Community Grants we were able to fund projects in 15 communities that reached 1400 beneficiaries; we provided hundreds of mattresses and bedding, thousands of pounds of other supplies, several hundred backpacks and school supplies, warm winter clothing, hockey equipment, books and so much more. We continue to provide menstrual supplies, mother and baby supplies, mobility aids and more. We continue with initiatives that are aimed at reconciliation such as Hockey Cares, educational retreats and much more, all possible because of you.
From the bottom of our heart, we thank you. Your voice is heard through your giving!
