Force sensing technology

Here at VCLC we pride ourselves in being actively involved in innovative initiatives and research. We have had the pleasure of including the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College Research team, led by Dr. Starmer. Using their force sensing technology, students receive objective and quantitative feedback, as it relates to patient safety and quality control.

Chiropractic care for puppies
Did you know that a career in animal chiropractic equips you with the unique skills to help not just athletic and aging animals but also newborns? This specialized field of chiropractic care is a fascinating blend of science and art, offering a unique approach to animal musculoskeletal health care. Contrary to a common misconception, chiropractic care is not limited to adult animals with fully formed bones and joints. Chiropractors are trained to address myofascial restrictions, which can be present in animal patients of all ages, from newborns to seniors. Meet Neon, a 2-day-old Golden Retriever puppy who was not gaining weight compared to her littermates. During birth, Neon spent an extended time in the birth canal and had to be pulled out. The owner was concerned that little Neon was sore and perhaps wasn’t nursing efficiently due to the difficult delivery. (NB: The mother was vet-checked after giving birth and is healthy and content). A spinal assessment was performed to check for areas of restriction. Significant chiropractic findings included greater tension through the right side of the neck compared to the left and at the base of the skull. Treatment included gentle jaw and neck myofascial release and gentle traction. The owner excitedly reported documented weight gain the next day. Just look at the spike in weight gain after treatment (on day 3- graph in comments)! #animalchiropractic #animalchiropractors #caninechiropractic #equinechiropractic #vsmt #chiropractor #chiropractic #veterinaryspinalmanipulation #continuingeducation

That’s a wrap on Module Two! The students completed their first round of tests (written and practical), followed by learning all about the cervical spine. In addition to learning the hands-on skills, students dive deep into the neurology, anatomy, physiology and pathology associated with adjustments to build case management skills. We love the Halloween spirit that we found at the barn during the equine components of the program 🎃👻 #animalchiropractic #animalchiropractors #caninechiropractic #equinechiropractic #vsmt #chiropractor #chiropractic #veterinarian #veterinaryspinalmanipulation #continuingeducation #collaborativecare

That’s a wrap on Module 1 of the 2023/2024 VCLC program! We are joined by veterinarians and chiropractors from all over North America in their pursuit to add animal chiropractic/VSMT to their skills. We were also joined by the research team at CMCC and their forceplate technology. The students started their hands-on training with dogs and horses, in addition to their anatomy and neurology training.
