Taimi Poldmaa - Artist/Instructor, paints and teaches art at BERKANA ART STUDIO. In addition to formal art training Taimi has studied at Haliburton School of the Arts,and most recently at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, where she studied Theory & Technique of the Group of Seven and Advanced Contemporary Abstract Painting with esteemed artists from across Ontario. Other study includes Fine Arts at Humber College, Sault College and Arts Education at York University. Taimi teaches children & adults the elements of design, colour and composition through comprehensive drawing and painting exercises. Students are encouraged to express their own feelings and vision, experimenting with the unfamiliar, stretching their understanding in new areas of the painting process. Taimi also teaches Special Needs students at an elementary school in Sault Ste. Marie, as well as Seniors at the Bay St. Senior’s Centre. Taimi has received numerous awards for her paintings of Lake Superior - the focus of her work. Recently, Taimi was invited to exhibit her paintings in Havana, Cuba in 2019.
