The inside of the home I photographed last week in Vancouver. A simple box shaped house with anything but simple interior finishes. A pleasure to photograph.
The exterior image of this home in Vancouver I photographed recently is a composite of 17 individual photos taken with different lighting and camera settings, including flash pointed at specific areas within the scene. It would be impossible to get this kind of result with just a single image. The clients are the wood working company that did all the custom cabinetry and millwork, and the interior design company that designed the entire home and landscaping. This was a stunning home inside. More photos to come.
Yet another one of my images made it to a magazine cover. This one is for Woodworking Canada and was for an amazing home I photographed on Humber Island in Belcarra, just at the mouth of Indian Arm. The client was the woodworking company that did all of the custom cabinetry and wood trim throughout. The magazine goes out to all of the custom woodworking and millwork companies across the country.
What does it take to photograph a restaurant? Lots and lots of moving chairs, tables, table settings, lighting, and post production work in Photoshop! This time lapse video shows the behind the scenes look into just the lighting portion of this image. In post production dozens of photos were combined to create the final product. Start to finish, this one image took about 4 hours to create. The restaurant is located in a Banff lodge I photographed a few years ago.

Advanced photo restoration I did for a client recently. Trucks, motorcycle, and chair removed from the same original file. Anything is possible with the advanced AI tools available to us.
Thanks to the latest AI software I was able to recover this image from the digital trash can. A few years ago I created this image "Above The Fog" and accidentally saved the working document as a 6" high file when reducing its size to display on Facebook. The resolution was extremely poor at that size and I thought all was lost. Today,
running it through Topaz Gigapixel AI, then Topaz Photo AI, I was able to bring it back up to 19" x 45" and sharp as a tack with full details. Incredible! Do you have any digital photos you want restored this way? It does an amazing job on people as well.

Two weeks ago I got back from an epic 14,000km, 67 day photography and fly fishing journey to the Arctic Ocean. The drive from Chilliwack, BC took me north through Kamloops, Valemount, Prince George, Dawson Creek, Liard NWT, Watson Lake Yukon, Faro, Carmacks, Mayo, Keno City, Whitehorse, Dawson City, Fort McPherson NWT, Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk, West to Kluane Lake, McCarthy Alaska, Valdez, Haines Junction Yukon, Haines Alaska, Skagway, Carcross, Then south through Jade City BC, Deese Lake, Kitwanga BC, Quesnel, Williams Lake and back home again to Chilliwack.
I brought back many thousands of photos and videos and countless hours of video, all of which I'll be working on this fall and winter.
The page for the trip is https://www.facebook.com/capturereeladventure. Here you can see the daily blog that was created plus photos and video of the trip. The videos are being published on the Capture Reel Adventure Youtube Channel starting in November.
While up north I photographed for a number of lodges and vacation rental locations which kept me busy for weeks. This was also a sponsored trip. Pacific Rivers Outfitting Company and Loop of Chilliwack were kind enough to offer me some clothing and two amazing fly rods which I caught a lot of fish on. Photo Central from Winnipeg, Manitoba supplied a free Nikon camera which was most welcome. Thank you to my sponsors for your support.
The landscape and nature photos are currently be processed but will take some time to go through. I've already posted several for sale on the Fine Art page of my website. Many of the new images are available as limited editions of 5 per size and print medium. Photographic prints, canvas, aluminum, and acrylic prints are now available. Check out the latest images! New ones are being added weekly as they become available. https://www.carstenarnold.com/fine-art
The image shown is called Descendants. It represents the Past, present, and future of the land. The ghosted trees along the top are the descendants of the past, the present are the trees in the centre, and the future are descending trees in the foreground.
It's been almost three weeks since I left home and headed north to the Arctic. I've left BC and just arrived in the Yukon today. If you want to follow my daily posts and photos of the trip head over to https://www.facebook.com/capturereeladventure to see what adventures I've been having! The Great Northern Project Update!
Two weeks away until the August 2nd launch of my 10 week photography and fly fishing journey to the arctic through all of BC, the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and even parts of Alaska. 12,000kms of adventures and challenges to come!
I'll post updates to a separate page when I have internet access. The further north I get, the less internet will be available. Follow me over there at https://www.facebook.com/capturereeladventure
Youtube videos as they become available will be posted to https://www.youtube.com/.
The intent is to create weekly videos of the entire 10 week journey. Due to the sheer amount of editing time required, these will mostly be released after I return from my trip. However I will be posting some highlights on both Youtube and Facebook including critter encounters, fishing adventures, amazing locations, and maybe even some of my attempts at rustling up some grub!
If you do follow me on Youtube, please subscribe to the channel and if you like the videos, give a thumbs up on each of them. It really helps me out a lot and would be greatly appreciated. Also, please consider sharing this post on your social media.
Thanks!👍🙂

Carmel Studios is our in house photo scanning, photo editing, photo restoration, photo colourization, and original artwork digitization service. Think your old photos are beyond restoration? Check out this recent project where the photo was extremely water damaged from being stored in a leaky attic for decades. The client went to several restoration companies and was devastated to find that none of them would even touch this image. After showing us the original they put their trust in us to bring this family heirloom back to life. Needless to say they are ecstatic we were able to fully restore this photo. This was such a beautiful home to photograph. The fine craftsmanship and finishing details are typical of Alderidge Construction. Always a pleasure to work with this team!
We were walking around the neighborhood yesterday to get some ideas of paint schemes for our house. With so many different styles and roof lines it's difficult to make a decision on what part of the house will get which colour. So I used my skills in Photoshop to visualize the change and this is the choice we made.

Fast action on an assignment this week. 🙃 This is a typical shoot using an ipad to remotely control all aspects of the camera.
A colleague of mine, Kelly Cushing Sheldon, has built an amazing website where a community of artists sell their work, including me. Here is a link to the online gallery: https://thearthivecollective.com/
She has poured her heart and soul into this endeavour over the past few years and has come up with something to promote it that is quite unique. Kelly has put together a Virtual Summit for artists called ‘Break Free of the Starving Artist Mentality’.
In this series she interviewed 21 experts about marketing, social media, life skill professionals, and artists (including me) to bring value to fellow artists. My interview is February 16, 2023 @ 9am PST.
I have a complimentary ticket for you to attend. You can register using this link. https://mailchi.mp/.../break-free-of-starving-artist...

The 2023 Catalog of Services is now available! This year I've added an exciting new drone service that you or your colleagues may find useful. Photography workshops are also coming!

Ask me for more details about this exciting new service.
Photography workshops are also coming to 2023 including "A New Approach on Photography Basics", "Architectural & Interiors Photography", "Real Estate Photography", and "The Art of Seeing in Landscape Photography". Stay tuned to this page for announcements on location, dates, and times.

Twilight photography is one of my favorite methods for capturing home exteriors and interiors. Each of these is made up of dozens of photos. Enjoy!
Canadian Tire head office in Toronto contacted me recently to photograph the interior of their new store here in Chilliwack, BC's largest at 95,000 square feet. They also needed drone aerial photos and video, and twilight and night time exterior ground based photos. Interior photos needed to be taken after store closing so they were taken between 9 pm and 2 am. The package of 350 photos and a 2 minute video were delivered to them this week and they were thrilled with the results.
Here are a few photos and a link to the video (no sound). https://player.vimeo.com/video/769056053
Here's a beautiful home on the Cultus Lake waterfront in Chilliwack that I photographed recently for a local interior designer and the builder. This twilight image is made up of 45 separate photos blended together with careful layering and masking!
I photographed this custom wall unit recently for one of my home builder clients. As soon as I saw it I imagined a fun little video that they could use for their marketing. Turn the sound up!
