City of Calgary, July 4, 2022 – Sales activity in June eased relative to the past several months and with 2,842 sales, levels declined by two per cent over last year’s record high. While sales activity has remained relatively strong for June levels, the decline was driven by a pullback in detached and semi-detached home sales.

The obvious benefit of excellent curb appeal is to sellers. When we put our houses on the market, we look for a good price, but also a quick sale. No one wants property sitting on the market for a long time, putting plans on hold, increasing future uncertainty, and risking lowering prices. Having a home that’s got a neat, tidy, and practical driveway, and that looks attractive to passers-by and viewers can add to the value of your home, but also help it to make a great first impression, increasing the likelihood of a quick sale.

The iconic Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel was named the top luxury hotel not only in Canada but the world! According to Travel Awaits, its ranking of the best luxury hotels of 2022 ticked off the legendary hotel as the best of the best. Not that surprising since Banff was recently named one of the best places in the world to travel but number one in the entire world is quite an accomplishment for my home town!

Banff was placed at #14 on the list, being touted as “an Alberta town full of acclaimed restaurants, breweries, boutiques and art galleries.” South Island, New Zealand was ranked as the top spot to visit in the world, followed by Paris, France, Maui, Hawaii and Bora Bora.

The market continues to favour the seller despite slowing sales.

For the second month in a row, sales activity trended down after all-time record high sales in March. While activity in the market slowed down in May with 3,071 sales, levels are still slightly higher than last year’s record high and are far stronger than typical levels of activity recorded in May.
