Crime Stoppers International
We are the global authority on anonymous reporting!
CSI's more than 800 affiliated and accredited national and local Crime Stoppers programs operate on six continents and form a global network that educates communities about crime and provides platforms and channels for citizens to anonymously share information about crimes of concern and criminal activity. CSI has a specific focus on the transnational crime areas of cybercrime, financial crime, human trafficking, illicit trade, wildlife and environmental crime, and international fugitives.
In the spirit of supporting the vital work of law enforcement, our President Sharon Hanlon AM, Deputy CEO Hayley van Loon and associates are volunteering their time today alongside some 650 participants in Australia’s National Missing Persons Hackathon.
Hosted by the Australian Federal Police and the National Missing Persons Coordination Centre, the one day, six-hour event is taking place at seven in-person locations around Australia and London. The ethical hackathon uses open source intelligence (OSINT) leads for six long-term missing persons cases.
Good luck to all the participants. Such a worthy cause and use of ethical hacking.
We will provide updates throughout the day.
Traditionally, we call for submissions each year from Crime Stoppers chapters that demonstrate excellence in the delivery of campaigns, programs and services, as well as significant contributions by individuals to the Crime Stoppers mission.
Based on a declining number of entries received in recent years, the Crime Stoppers International Board of Directors has determined it's high time to undertake a review of the Annual Awards format and structure.
This means we won't be calling for submissions this year ... and we'll be launching a bigger, better, refreshed Annual Awards series in 2025.
So whatever you do, make sure you stay tuned!

Victim of Homicide Identified in Decades-Old Cold Case
Temistocle (Temy) Casas died of homicide. His remains were located in a wooded area off Minerals Road, Conception Bay South, Newfoundland and Labrador. Royal Newfoundland Constabulary investigators are appealing to the public for help identifying who may be responsible for his death.

Investigators are looking to put together a timeline of his movements in the last years and months of his life. Crime Stoppers International are happy to see the collaboration between the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) and Aylo in establishing the Adult Content Standards. This initiative marks a significant stride in combating online child sexual abuse imagery. The more collaboration there is in this space, the better the outcome for children and vulnerable people. The ‘world first’ standards will help to ‘set and raise’ standards to prevent the upload and distribution of online child sexual abuse imagery.
Sir Richard Tilt Chair of Advisory Board and Former IWF Chair said, "I was pleased that the IWF and Aylo have been able to work together to establish stringent and clear standards for material on adult sites. Success of the new standards will depend on close auditing to ensure a high level of compliance."
Crime Stoppers International wholeheartedly support these efforts and look forward to contributing to a safer online environment for all.

Honoring the Spirit of Anzac Day with Crime Stoppers International
Today, on Anzac Day, we stand in solidarity with our Australian colleagues and communities as we pay tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and camaraderie of the Australian and New Zealand armed forces. At Crime Stoppers International, we recognize the significance of this solemn occasion and join in commemorating the extraordinary contributions of those who have served and continue to serve our nations with bravery and dedication.
Anzac Day serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring values of service, sacrifice, and unity that bind our global community together. It is a day to honor the resilience and determination of our servicemen and women, and to reflect on the sacrifices made to safeguard the freedoms we hold dear.
As a global organization committed to promoting safety and security, we draw inspiration from the Anzac spirit in our mission to create safer communities worldwide. We are guided by the principles of courage, mateship, and sacrifice as we work to uphold the safety and well-being of individuals and communities everywhere.
On this Anzac Day, let us pause to remember and honor the legacy of those who have served, and let us reaffirm our commitment to supporting them and their families. Together, let us carry forward the lessons of courage and unity as we strive to build a better and more peaceful world for all.
Lest we forget.
Today, our Deputy CEO, Hayley van Loon, had the honor of meeting with The Hon. Mitch Fifield, former United Nations Ambassador, Cabinet Minister, and Australian Senator. The meeting focused on discussing Crime Stoppers International's critical work in the online safety space, where we are striving to address often overlooked areas and tackle the complex challenges of reforming the online world.
As a mother and Deputy CEO at CSI, Hayley is deeply committed to reducing harm to vulnerable people, particularly women and children. This mission is deeply personal to her, and Mitch Fifield's support is invaluable in helping to make a real difference in this crucial area. We are grateful for his insights and look forward to collaborating further on these important initiatives.

International crime fighter undertakes ground-breaking project
In its concerted efforts to combat the distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), tackle human trafficking, confront revenge p**n, and mitigate various online harms, Crime Stoppers International has agreed to review the trust and safety framework, policies, procedures, and practices of Aylo (formerly MindGeek), the company behind some of the world’s biggest online adult entertainment sites.
The project being undertaken by Crime Stoppers International aims to assess Aylo's capacity to enhance platform safety, with a specific focus on important contemporary issues such as non-consensual image and video sharing, age verification, CSAM, revenge p**n, and deepfakes. The overarching goal is to mitigate and prevent online harm, thus fostering safer communities, which directly aligns with our organisation’s core mission and received the unanimous support of its Board.
When faced with the stark realities of online harms, the need for change is undeniable. We feel compelled to bravely explore new methods to shield the vulnerable, especially children. Through collaborative efforts with diverse stakeholders, Crime Stoppers International is pioneering innovative strategies to protect those most at risk of exploitation. We are fortunate that other esteemed global organisations also recognise the importance of working with companies such as Ethical Capital Partners/Aylo.
Adapting to the evolving landscape is essential. Overlooking opportunities for collaboration, even within industries like adult entertainment that are actively pursuing safety improvements, means missing out on a chance for positive transformation. We hold firm in our belief that this collaboration has the power to substantially diminish the toll of online harm and ongoing victimisation.
Crime Stoppers International’s dedication to transparency is unwavering. Once our review of Aylo’s trust and safety processes is complete, we will publicly publish our findings and recommendations. Our organisation remains resolute in its objective: to create a safer digital environment and protect the most vulnerable members of society from harm.
Likewise, we are steadfast in our dedication to work with law enforcement, NGOs, private companies, and communities to make the world safer.
In history, societal progress often emerged from challenging the status quo. Today, Crime Stoppers International finds itself at a pivotal juncture. The broadest of collaborations are essential for promoting transparency and implementing the safest practices to improve online safety standards.
Crime Stoppers programs worldwide consistently yield incredibly positive results for their communities. While each program may have its own unique goals and areas of focus, at our core, we share the same fundamental mission: to create safer communities.

🌍🏥 Celebrating World Health Day with Crime Stoppers International! 🏥🌍
Today, on World Health Day, Crime Stoppers International recognizes the interconnectedness between community well-being and public health. As an organization dedicated to fostering safer communities, we understand that promoting health extends far beyond physical wellness—it encompasses mental well-being and social harmony too.
This year's World Health Day theme, "Building a Fairer, Healthier World for Everyone," resonates deeply with our mission. We recognize that access to health services, including mental health support, is a fundamental human right. However, many individuals, particularly those in vulnerable communities, still face barriers to accessing the care they need.
Crime Stoppers International is committed to addressing these disparities and promoting holistic wellness in communities worldwide. By fostering partnerships with healthcare providers, mental health organizations, and community stakeholders, we strive to ensure that everyone has access to the resources and support they need to thrive.
In addition to addressing traditional public health concerns, such as crime and violence, we also recognize the impact of social determinants on health outcomes. Poverty, inequality, and social exclusion are not only risk factors for crime but also significant determinants of health. By tackling these root causes and promoting social cohesion and inclusion, we can create a fairer and healthier world for all.
This World Health Day, let's renew our commitment to building resilient, equitable communities where everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy and fulfilling life. Together, let's work towards a future where health is not just the absence of disease but the presence of justice, equality, and well-being for all.

Today, as we celebrate International Children's Book Day, Crime Stoppers International is proud to recognize the power of storytelling in shaping young minds and fostering a safer world for future generations.
Children's books are not only a source of imagination and wonder but also serve as valuable tools in teaching important life lessons, including the importance of crime prevention and community safety.
Through captivating narratives and engaging characters, children's books have the unique ability to instill values of integrity, empathy, and responsibility. By introducing young readers to concepts like honesty, respect for others, and the courage to speak up against wrongdoing, we lay the foundation for a culture of accountability and crime prevention from an early age.
At Crime Stoppers International, we believe in empowering young people to become active participants in creating safer communities. By promoting literacy and education through children's literature, we equip children with the knowledge and skills to recognize and report crime, ultimately helping to prevent and solve crimes in their neighborhoods.
So, this International Children's Book Day, let's celebrate the magic of storytelling and its role in shaping a brighter, safer future for all. Together, let's inspire the next generation of crime stoppers through the pages of a book.
This Easter season, let's come together to spread kindness and make a positive impact in our communities. Did you know that reporting a crime to Crime Stoppers can change someone's life and help solve a case? We can make a difference and create safer neighborhoods for everyone. Happy Easter!

Today, as we honor the memory of those who suffered in the Transatlantic Slave Trade, let's not forget that modern slavery persists in our world.
Shockingly, over 40 million people are trapped in various forms of modern slavery today. From forced labor to human trafficking, the exploitation continues.
Let's stand together against this injustice. If you suspect any form of modern slavery or exploitation, don't hesitate to report it. Your action could save lives and bring perpetrators to justice.
Together, we can honor the past by actively working towards a future where no one is enslaved.
See Something. Say Something. We provide a platform for people to report transnational crime anonymously, which is passed confidentially to law enforcement.
