We see that our friends at SalDan Construction Group are getting underway with their next project in Sault Ste Marie... construction of a 108 unit development on PIM street.
Demolition of the Trinity site is underway, but first they retrieved the time capsule from 1960.... we're curious what you found in there??
Always concerned about the impact of their buildings SalDan is working with Lafarge Canada to use a low-carbon concrete on this project, called ECOPact!

Here is how you level an uneven floor.
Use a self leveling cement. Use a primer first.
We love working with the Sika L-125 Floor leveler, it's easy to use and quick to dry up —you can lay down your tile in just 24 hours. This is great if you're laying down:
👍 Ceramic tiles and natural stone (can be installed 24 hours after applying the self-leveler).
👍 Floor coverings (carpet, vinyl, PVC, rubber, engineered wood flooring) can be installed after 1 to 3 days.
👍 Floors with in-floor radiant heating.

Our partners Basement Builders had their team transform what was once a generic, standard-issue basement into something truly reflective of the client’s style and interests.
This one-bedroom with a 3-piece bath is bright, modern, and charmingly unique in every way.
Following some layout redesign, our team installed premium flooring, custom cabinetry, a luxurious tiled shower and topped things off with gorgeous countertops and upgraded plumbing fixtures and hardware. It’s the living area that really steals the show here, though. With its glassed-in ping pong room in the back and its captivating feature wall up front, this basement offers enjoyment for the whole family.

Who knew laundry could look this good?! 🤩
With a laundry room like this, from our partners at Bezooyen Contracting Inc. you might actually look forward to doing laundry!!
We absolutely love how bright the room is and the great contrast of the coffee coloured hardwood and white walls, to that of the cabinets, in this custom laundry room.
There is a ton of storage... pull out shelves under each machine for easy loading and transfers and even had a hidden ironing board!
Homeowners, Kristy & Paul knew they had a little bounce in their floors, and hired a kitchen company who also had a renovation company to install their new kitchen thinking they would know how to deal with the issue… After their kitchen island addition, the floors were sinking!!
They had an engineer look at the issue and told them they needed to reinforce the floors as they had sagged so much the floors were lifting above it…
With no clear fix in sight and too many opinions to deal with Kristy’s dad suggested they call Mike Holmes!
With a quick call and a bit of luck Mike Holmes’ partner in Edmonton Vicky's Homes was on the job to help this family.
The crew quickly assessed the scope of work and set to arranging for the right people and products to 'make it right’ for Kristy, Paul and their pups!!
The job required restructuring the main floor support structure from the basement, by removing the old open web joists and replacing it with engineered I-joists.
They installed a new beam and tele posts, which allowed them to span from the original beam to the foundation wall.
The new LVL beam picked up the load under the kitchen area which brought it back to level… eliminating a previous ¾” drop.
They finished the job by using Sika 125 self-levelling compound to ensure a completely level surface to install the new hardwood flooring.
Shout out to Vicky’s Homes for taking the lead and coordinating this fix for Kristy & Paul.
Big thanks to the team at Sierra Flooring for their consultations and installation of the new floor!!

As we are enjoying the beautiful days of summer one of the last things you want to be thinking about is fall.... BUT now is the time to be making preparations for the time when the leaves begin to fall!!
Make sure you're doing your due diligence and clearing out your eavestrough as necessary. When leaves and other gunk jams up the pipe, it prevents water from moving smoothly through to your downspout. Instead, it will start to spill over the edge of your eavestrough, dropping it down against your foundation - which is porous and would love to suck up all that moisture like a sponge.
Clean them out regularly, or better yet, install a mesh screen to keep the leaves out altogether. The Smart Screen is what I recommend.

Our friends at Miller Contracting Ltd. shared some photos from a recent site excavation... and it proved that you never know what you'll find in the ground or behind some walls on a construction site!!
The old basement walls weren't removed, just buried and they also left behind a tractor tire and car frame.... we wonder what the story was there!!

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!
We’ve installed the Bosch Home Comfort Inverter Ducted Split Air Source Heat Pump system on many of our projects.
What we love about it is that it uses the correct amount of energy for optimal efficiency, which means more savings on your utility bills. It’s also super quiet, 59 decibels.
When I found out that the quality of water in my home wasn't the best I knew I had to something about it because that water wasn't only affecting my home but could have an impact on my health as well. So I decided to get my water tested and the results were not good.
The water professionals at Kinetico Water Systems recommended I get a whole home water filtration system as well a drinking system, and that was the best decision I've made —I love my RO (reverse osmosis) water 🚰
Here's a quick breakdown of how this system works:
👉Water comes in from your pressure system and hits a 20 micron pre-filter (to capture anything in the water 20 microns or larger like sand)
👉Goes through the Kinetico S250 water softener (twin tank non-electric system)
👉K5 Drinking Water Station (the black unit mounted on the wall) purifies water for drinking. Using reverse osmosis technology, the system’s membrane separates contaminants from the water and flushes them to drain.
When I found out that the quality of water in my home wasn't the best I knew I had to something about it because that water wasn't only affecting my home but could have an impact on my health as well. So I decided to get my water tested and the results were not good.
👉The drinking water then goes into the storage tank. When the dedicated drinking water faucet is turned on, the water goes through one more level of filtration, giving the water a final polish. After I have consumed 500 gallons of drinking water, the system will TELL me it's time to replace the filters.
They even recommended a leak detection system so if there is ever any problem and one of my pipes is leaking, I get notified on my phone and can immediately shut it off my water system from the app... now that's piece of mind!
