Meet one of our Ontario physicians, Dr. Vishwan Mahabir!
Dr. Mahabir practices exclusively through telemedicine and requires a practitioner’s referral to become a patient.
Dr. Mahabir’s response to why do you authorize medical cannabis?
“Cannabis as a medication has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-psychotic properties. I apply recognized and evidence-based guidelines to help my patients alleviate physical and psychological symptoms. Like any medication, it’s important that I minimize the risk of my patients developing a substance use disorder by carefully evaluating the dose and administration of cannabis, including side effects and efficacy.”
Speak to your physician today for a referral. Our referral form can be found on TCN’s website.

Did you know the body has an endocannabinoid system? The Endocannabinoid System is a network of neurotransmitters and receptors found throughout the human body. Cannabinoids from the cannabis plant can interact with the ECS.
CB1 receptors are most densely populated in the central and peripheral nervous system. THC tends to act directly with these receptors which is one reason it may have a pronounced psychoactive effect.
CB2 receptors are most densely populated in the peripheral tissues and immune system. CBD tends to act directly with these receptors.

Meet one of our nurse practitioners, Josee Perreault!
Josee practices exclusively through telemedicine in Manitoba, Alberta, and New Brunswick, and accepts patients with and without a physician’s referral.
When Josee was asked why she authorizes medical cannabis, she said:
“Cannabis is perhaps one of the most contentious topics today, both from a legal and health perspective. I have always been open-minded in my practice, and willing to work with clients to meet their needs for a better quality of life. Cannabis has been around for many years prior to being legalized. I am pleased to see it is now being utilized for the many benefits it has to offer. Of course, this is done through consultation and education provided by our team of licensed professionals to best serve our clientele.”

Meet one of our Nurse Practitioners, Ashley Bevan!
Ashley Bevan is a Nurse Practitioner living in Harrow, Ontario who is registered to work in many provinces including Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick and PEI.
In 2009 she graduated with honors from the University of Windsor’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Pursuing her dream to provide primary care, Ashley went back to school after working as a Registered Nurse for 7 years in telemetry and medicine. She graduated from the University of Windsor’s Master of Nursing and Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner program in 2017. In early 2018, when an opportunity presented itself to begin her advance practice nursing career in medical cannabis, she jumped at the chance and hasn’t looked back. Ashley has worked as a nurse practitioner specializing in medical cannabis for the last 5 years.
Patients and colleagues describe her as a passionate, empathetic, outgoing and professional Nurse Practitioner who provides outstanding care. She strives to be an advocate for all under serviced and stigmatized populations and is committed to evidenced based practice and care. She currently works in both Emergency Medicine and the Medical Cannabis Field.
“I work in medical cannabis because I believe it has the potential to positively impact patients' lives. My patients come from all different walks of life, some with knowledge and experience with cannabis use, and some with no experience whatsoever. Seeing as the world of cannabis can be confusing, I meet them wherever they are in their journey and help them navigate medical cannabis therapy using a patient cantered approach. I enjoy spending time with each patient to help them weigh the risk vs benefit of cannabis for their symptoms and encourage them to optimize their care using a multipronged approach.”
