Cards a Lot - Sheila Turner
Independent Stampin Up demonstrator who loves card making & paper crafting and sharing with others.
Since our puppy dog, Ali, has been gone I find myself watching all kinds of videos about dogs, puppies anything and everything. (A favourite is Layla the Boxer even though Ali was a chocolate lab) We are hoping to get another dog in the future but can’t find exactly what we are looking for as far as size (something a little smaller maybe?) and breed. I think we would like to rescue as there are so many dogs out there needing rescuing. Or maybe I’d like a puppy but they’re a lot of work. Does anyone have any good suggestions for either a rescue or a new puppy? Or what size and breed of dog you love? Please feel free to comment below!
Did you know that almost every day of the year is a National something day? There are also national weeks to celebrate. This week is National Thinking of You week. What an awesome week for the opportunity to send a handmade card to someone. I will be sending out a few this week. How about you?
Today I want to introduce this amazing person, Doris, who has changed my life by launching my Stampin Up! journey 7 or so years ago. I first joined Doris in her monthly Stamp club. Didn’t take me long to realize a few things. 1) she was Amazing teacher, 2) I wanted her for my up line and 3) fun to be around. All these years later I was right and I’ve found a wonderful friend and team leader. THANK YOU DORIS!!
Did you know that as a young person I was determined to be a teacher? Well that didn’t happen, however being a Stampin Up! Demonstrator has given me a wonderful outlet to teach all about Paper, Stamps and Ink! I love being a demo for this company and here’s a few reasons why!
🐾 I get to channel my “inner teacher” and teach/share something I love!
🐾 I get to use wonderful great quality products that coordinate stamps, ink, paper, dies etc.
🐾 I get spend time with my amazing friends and family!
🐾 I get to meet and nurture friendships with new and wonderful people with “like” interests and creativity!
🐾 Stampin Up! has something for everyone, from a crafter who likes to have all their supplies in one kit and they can just put it together and craft on the go to the avid stamper who likes it all! Stamps, ink, dies, embossing folders and powders, beautiful patterned paper, coordinating cardstock and all the best tools to put it all together!
Stamping one sheet wonders (OSW) or making my own designer background paper is one of my favourite ways to use my stamping supplies. It’s so fun to be creative and you really just need stamps, ink and paper. I’ve posted a few examples I’ve made and then sample card(s) made out of the background. It’s also a great way to make cards that coordinate as a set! If you like this idea and are interested is receiving a card from me, comment below and I will randomly draw Five (5) names to send a card in the mail! (Not necessarily the ones shown in the pictures)
I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since Stampin Up! Celebrated their 30 Year Anniversary! As the 35th Anniversary approaches, I can’t help but think back to the awesome celebration I was able to attend in Orlando. What an amazing time. I got to meet Sara (highlight) and so many others I feel I already know through You Tube and Demonstator Planning place page. Being a part of the Stampin Up! Community has been and continues to be such an amazing experience! Here’s a few pictures from that celebration and the most amazing video, in the comments, of O Canada you will ever see.
If I gave you $250 to spend on anything you want (including something just for you) but you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you buy?
So today is going to be a day for you to learn a little secret about me and card making! You may know I love using my creativity when making a card. What you don’t know is sometimes I am totally blocked and creatively challenged with coming up with an idea. One strategy I use is to make a bunch of elements of the stamps and dies (if it has dies) for the particular set I want to use. I stamp a bunch of images and cut them out - fussy cut or using the dies - and then I lay them out and moving them around until an idea comes to me. 9 times out of 10 an idea with form and I can create the card even though it may still change many times until completion.
Question: What do you do when you are creatively challenged or the idea just doesn’t come to you right away?
Hello friends, today I have a little quiz for you. If you can only pick 3 of these options for the rest of your life, which Buttons would you push? Obviously I would push Button 1 and the other two would be 3 and 4! I found it hard to choose just 3. Which ones would you choose? Was it hard to pick them?
I’ve a great idea for making cards when you’re using dies or punches. When I’m stamping and die cutting/punching, I try to stamp and cut out a few extras. The ones I don’t use I put in a little baggie and store in the stamp case. This way when I need to make a card in a hurry I already have some images stamped and cut. Has saved me a few times when I have procrastinated in making a card for that special someone! What stamping/cardmaking tips do you have?
I’m super grateful for the lady in this picture, Bev, who keeps me inspired to do what I love. She is always up for a video craft, a discussion about crafting and ideas and suggestions of different ideas and cards she has made. Thanks Bev for all that you do with me on this crafting/cardmaking journey! Anyone else have someone or something that inspires them?
So with summer coming to an end and everyone getting back into the regular grind, I’m wondering if you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be? And if you care to elaborate, why?
Wow I just found this msscrapbusters video episode 58. What fun. I never seem to have enough labels so this was a super find. Had so much fun! Thank you Melina.

Tried Miss E’s, easy labels. They were a whole lot of fun and can’t wait to make some tags or pockets to add them to.

Had some fun yesterday and today making collage backgrounds. All SU products new and retired. Loved playing around with re-inkers, inks, heat embossing, stamps and water. I love making these. I made the Green one into one card so far and I think the pink/red one will be a small journal cover. I’ve scored it already with a small 1/4” spine.
