Our Story

We enjoy Stephen Leacock’s company. He is like a favourite uncle: raffish, jolly, funny, wise, foolish, intriguing, loveable, occasionally deplorable. Also monumentally verbose, in many dimensions. Also a monumental Canadian literary figure, both humourist and political economist. Also a great teacher. Also almost a relative: the dear lady friend of his later widowed years was married to our grandmother’s first cousin.

We will celebrate this dual significant anniversary with a Leacock iSymposium, performances if they can be arranged in those places where he spoke that we did not visit in 2017, a book telling the story of our encounter with him, and maybe a new anthology, if we can find time to pull it together.

Everything that happens will be tracked here, beginning September 28th, 2018.
