Day 6 - A day late…
I woke to a frozen morning, it took over an hour to pack up - everything was frozen to the ground including the tent! Sadly yet another casualty, all the freezing rain and wind was more than the tent could take… Yes she suffered a major tear. I didn’t realize that my posts painted a gloomy picture of what was thought to be an exciting “how could anything go wrong” adventure. Michelle and I were sitting in our room and she mentioned this to me. Of course, since you were not there with me, how would you know that when I realized my snowshoe was broken beyond repair, that I laughed out loud and said, “it’s an adventure now!” No matter how well thought out an expedition is…nothing ever goes according to plan! But that is the beauty of it, this is where the rubber meets the road! These are the moments that define you! How you overcome adversity! Hands so cold you can’t feel the match that lights the fire, there is no ribbon for showing up, just self gratification of building the fire that not only warms the hands but ignites a fire in your soul. What one might call suffering, I call character building, moments that will live with me forever. You see, never once did I have a disappointing moment, it was never about the destination… it was always about the journey…

Over The Edge

I have many passions in life, but the two that standout the most is my love of the backcountry, and remote wilderness medicine. A 30 year collection of guiding expeditions, instructing first aid, and working as a Remote Paramedic has afforded me a wealth of knowledge and experience. This is what I want to bring to you, your group, or your company.
