September 30 recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. On this day, we honour the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Tomorrow, we'll be leaving space for voices that have historically not been given any. We wonât be posting on social media to make sure those voices can be lifted. Thank you to all Indigenous partners in communities across BC for sharing your knowledge and long history of caring for animals and land.
Commemorating the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process. It's an important day for us to listen, learn and reconcile with our history as a country. We call on all staff, volunteers and supporters to take time to visit the resources we have prepared - to participate in events and/or observe the day in a meaningful way: https://spca.bc.ca/news/truth-reconciliation-day/
The BC SPCA is committed to a future when diversity, equity, and reconciliation are meaningfully embedded in all aspects of its work and within the communities we serve. In our efforts to foster an environment of kindness, compassion and respect, we have a responsibility to stand up for those who are facing injustice and cruelty, including people.

We certainly welcome more volunteer help, with fostering animals. socializing and exercising animals, planning and working fundraising events, and transportation of animals. Please contact us if you are interested.
