Autumn, and what's around the corner.

I'm still around, though not posting often - Social media platforms occupy too much of our time, and I'd rather .

Woodland
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I come to my solitary woodland walk as the homesick go home. I thus dispose of the superfluous and see things as they are, grand and beautiful.

You are invited to join the 26th annual Great Backyard Bird Count, happening February 17-20, 2023! This event is our opportunity to observe birds from our communities and contribute to a snapshot of bird populations around the world. https://www.birdscanada.org/gbbc23
I'm challenging the technology this morning by inputting prompts into Open AI's DALL-E 2 image generation algorithm with criteria that are unique to the Pacific Coast. I wouldnt think the cannon so small that the AI would fail. One (the best) of the several renderings generated shared below. Tell me what you think. How did the AI do given the prompt?
"A winter scene of an old oak tree prominent on a wooded hill. There is a bird feeder suspended by chain hanging from a large burl covered branch of that old tree. Around the bird feeder are several small songbirds. All rendered in the style of salish native art."
Reflecting on Partnership
- - - - - - -
Partnership is not a posture but a process-a continuous process that grows stronger each year as we devote ourselves to common tasks.
~John F. Kennedy~
So... How was the first week of 2023? 😆
Facebook has apparently made sharing from another site less appealing so here is the previously posted image in a more appetizing presentation.
Stained Glass

Let go of dead things
autumn is a second spring
the moon and the earth
reverberate sad songs
Love is a healing power
turn the past
life starts again
under the skylight
I can see the clouds
the birds flying by
the falling rain
on top of stained glass
There is no end
to the ceiling of the skies
in a child's innocent eyes

Quite possibly my favourite photo of 2022.

Dramatic sidelight

There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy, and a tragedy.
A Place to Sit and Think

In order to improve the mind, we ought less to learn, than to contemplate.
~Rene Descartes~
This was a favourite from a couple years ago. Looks like a big is on the way, and I'm excited for the winter wonderland :D

Storm light with fresh snow, shimmering across the plains to create delicate colours.
"A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
Albert Einstein
We are part of the earth and it is part of us. The perfumed flowers are our sisters; the deer, the horse, the great eagle: these are our brothers. All things are connected like the blood which unites one's family.

A perfect place to sit down after a little walk in the woods to take in the Autumn colours.
I share this link annually for those who might want to chase autumn colours on their own... I'm a bit late this year.. Now is the time!
A little Autumn reflection to mark the changing season.
It’s a wet one out there folks!

Dawns early light
Apotheosis by Emily Dickinson
Come slowly, Eden!
Lips unused to thee,
Bashful, sip thy jasmines,
As the fainting bee,
Reaching late his flower,
Round her chamber hums,
Counts his nectars — enters,
And is lost in balms!
With snowy weather well behind us, it’s nice to get out in the parks and on the trails again.

Erythronium americanum
A nice verse by Pavel Chichikov "Affection"
Trout lilies and spring beauties beneath the great oak tree
Great enough and strong enough for avid eyes to see
The pretty and the stubborn large, all survive to be
Is there not a metaphor comparing such as we?
The Lord can speak a language that we can understand
Even those who cannot speak, this language can command
He tells us by the world so made the poems that He speaks
And those who listen with their eyes are followers He seeks
Be sure then that He knows full well the love we have for this
World He makes with loving care, His sonnet and a kiss
Embrace it as a lover would, creation will respond
And show to you in what you see how much the world is fond
Of those who feel affection in every tree and flower
A gift you will not turn away in sunshine or rain shower
