I just saw this in one of my ministry FB groups and it hit my heart. To all of the wonderful Children’s Ministry leaders: I’m praying for you as you go to sleep tonight probably full of excitement and a little (or a lot) of anxiety. May God give you energy, and clear words to communicate the resurrection story to excited kids tomorrow.

And even if all of your plans fail, remember that Christ is still risen! He has overcome death and that message is greater and more powerful and irresistible than any craft, activity or object lesson.

Are You Competing With Other Churches? How to Tell and What To Do. 17/03/2022

People like to win.

Sports. Arguments. Grants. Awards. Promotions.

It's built into who we are. We like to be right. We want to win.

And a healthy apatite for competition or the longing to strive to be better is a good thing - it keeps us hungry and driven... BUT

What happens when we start competing in the church? What happens when churches start trying to outdo other churches? Is that healthy?

In today's video, we talk about how easy it is to slip into competition with other churches and how that can lead to you losing your focus and God's wider church not thriving the way it could.

Check it out!

When's the last time you went out of your way in a staff meeting or elders meeting to intentionally build up your team?

Every ministry leader is feeling the pinch right now. Two years of constant change, adjustments, budget cuts, or hours reduction made many staff teams feel discouraged or unmotivated.

If you're leading your church as a pastor or elder, never underestimate the small kindnesses that help your teams get through the day.

Take some time this week - in the halls, in a meeting, over the phone, text email - whatever. Take some time to encourage those leaders around you. For you, it might take five minutes, but for them, it's likely to make their week.

Photos from Church Helper's post 16/03/2022

Hopefully, you've started to think about Easter Sunday and what you could be doing to reach someone new with the message of Jesus.

Every pastor looks forward to putting together a great Easter message, and many churches take advantage of choirs or drama to add something unique and memorable.

All those extra service elements are great - but if you genuinely want to reach someone new with the message of Jesus, don't forget to do one of the most important things well.

Make Everything Understandable.

Remember that if you want someone new to feel welcome, pick up on the message, and want to come back, they need to be able to follow along.

You don't need to water down the message of Christ to make it reachable for those who aren't used to church; you need to remember who you're trying to reach!

In this episode, Matt talks about the parts of the process you cannot skip when hiring, how to treat people well even when they aren't your choice, and why slowing down your process might be the best decision you make.

Three Things About Office Administrators You Should Know 01/03/2022

Church Administrators are:

Underrated
Misunderstood
Superheroes

While people can make assumptions about Sr. Leaders or Children's Ministry Leaders based on their exposure, rarely is the average congregation member, or elder, regularly exposed to the church's office administrator. So today, we're going to talk about three things your elders need to know about church administrators that will help you all work better together.

5 Common Church Hiring Mistakes 01/03/2022

We LOVE this quote!

"When you are short a staff member, either someone else carries those additional responsibilities, or the job doesn’t get done. That is pressure. Time passes, someone becomes overloaded, balls are dropped and fractures start to show themselves in your ministry. The pressure increases. Soon, if a candidate says they love Jesus and likes coffee, they start to look pretty good"

Read this and four more Mistakes Churches Make when hiring right here.

Three Things About Children's Ministry Leaders You Should Know 28/02/2022

What does a Children's Ministry Leader Really Do?

One of the BIG KEYS to hiring well is understanding what someone's job really is.

At Church Helper, one of the things we've discovered through personal conversation, research, and surveys is that sometimes what someone's job looks like on the outside isn't what someone's job is in the day-to-day.

So this week, we'll be giving you behind the scenes look into a few things you should know about every staff position that you might be hiring for at your church.

Is there someone we missed, or you'd like to add? Let us know in the comments!

Overcome These Types of Conflict In Your Church 24/02/2022

When leading a team, sooner or later, you're going to run into conflict. Whether it's something someone said or did, eventually, there will be a moment when your team isn't on the same page. And the type of leader you are, combined with your personality, will influence when you notice it, how you deal with it, and how your team makes it through. And because this is so important, and there are different ways a team deals with conflict, we're going to focus on that today. So if you want to manage conflict better on whatever team you're leading, check out this video, and let us know what you think!

3 Tips For Managing Church Conflict 23/02/2022

Conflict in our churches isn't too hard to find right now, but how can we overcome it without hurting people or spending all of our relationship equity?

We will look at this subject closer as the week comes to a close. To start, here are three tips that seem like no-brainers but might help give you the confidence to move in the right direction.

3 Tips For Managing Church Conflict There is a common phenomenon in the church today.People get offended, conflict arises and people leave the church. This church conflict is often the result of mis-communication, or no communication.

23/02/2022

Ministry leaders can live off a compliment or an encouraging word for a week when it comes unexpectedly. So, be that person this week.

If you're a staff member: Reach out to one volunteer and let them know how much you appreciate them.

If you're a church attendee: Reach out to one staff member and tell them why you think they're doing a great job.

Spend two minutes today making someone's week. 😀😀

Does Worship Music Make People Stick Around? 17/02/2022

If I've heard it once, I've heard it a thousand times. Someone will come to me and say, "if we only had better / more contemporary / more relevant music, more people would stay at our church."

To be honest with you, even as a lover of quality music on a Sunday morning, I'm not sure that's entirely the case - and in this video, you get to see why!

Jehovah Jireh My Provider 16/02/2022

We're talking about worship music this week, so we thought we'd share some of our faves! Let's spend the week celebrating all the different songs we use to worship the Lord! Feel free to let us know what you think of these songs, and link some of your own in the comments!

Today's Pick is by Mike, and it's a little unexpected for those who would know me. It's the song "Jehovah Jireh My Provider."

This was the only version of it live I could find on Youtube, and I'm not sure I sang it in church with such a huge choir and brass section, but this song has a TON of meaning for me. When my dad first became a Christian and started bringing me to church (when I was 4-5 years old), he would sing this around the house day - and of course - I would join. This is likely the first worship song (hymn or not) that I ever learned! To this day, I still do the claps on the "For Me" parts.

Matt Redman talks about writing The Heart of Worship | #TheSundayHour 15/02/2022

During the beginning of contemporary worship music as we know it, Matt Redman was seeing incredible success in his music. In the middle of this time, his pastor challenged him to re-think his music ministry - and this is what happened next.

Although an older story, its staying power is evident, and it should motivate all of us to re-focus during our worship services, no matter what musical genre we choose.

We're talking about worship music this week, so we thought we'd share some of our faves! Let's spend the week celebrating all the different songs we use to worship the Lord! Feel free to let us know what you think of these songs, and link some of your own in the comments!

Today's Pick is from Mike, and it's "Salvation is Here" by Hillsong United.

Mike: I remember singing this song when I was going through a pretty rough time in my life, but the chorus helped keep me level. Of course, this also fits with the theme of MY favourite worship genre. Give me anything early 2000's by Hillsong United, and I'm a pretty happy guy! Enjoy!

And I know His word never fails
And I know my God made a way for me
Its's gonna be Alright.
