BOTANICAL REVERIE - a floral arranging and watercolour painting workshop

Join us for a dreamy afternoon of flower arranging and botanical painting at You will learn how to create an elegant garden style vase arrangement with flowers freshly gathered (by you!) from the gardens at City Girl Flower Farm. You’ll be given tips on how to cut and arrange the flowers in a garden style design that is environmentally friendly and foam-free with . After, you will learn the basics of colour mixing and applying watercolour to create a watercolor painting with your floral arrangement as your muse.
Delicious light snacks and refreshments will be served throughout the afternoon. Students will take home their designs including the vase, fresh flowers, painting and art supplies. This small class is appropriate for all skill levels. We would love to see you there!

Some of my favourite moments from weddings are ones I never get to see. When all the pieces of the colour story come together in perfect harmony. The flowers, the dresses, the scenery - it’s magical✨

Event Design matters! HERE’S WHY:

Did you notice the BLUE beams in this event space? I bet they didn’t scream LOOK AT ME! Instead of hating the beam colour and trying to hide them, we incorporated the blue into the overall color palette and created harmony in this venue.

We kept it playful, light and airy to let this space really shine. Candles, cheesecloth runners, napkins, velvet ties, floral centerpieces and bud vases transformed this venue from blue beams to BEAUTIFUL.

Tips on wedding bouquets - for brides 💍

🌼 HOW TO CHOOSE FLOWERS FOR YOUR BOUQUET
Choose a florist who’s style you love, a colour palette and/or an overall aesthetic. Easy as that!

🌼 HOW TO HOLD YOUR BOUQUET
There’s little pearl pins at the back of your bouquet. Think ‘pins to belly button’ and you’ll be spot on. Shoulders down, don’t hide your face & try to tilt it forward slightly (easier than it all sounds haha)

🌼 RIBBONS OR NOT?
Up to you! Does it go with your dress and the vibe of your overall wedding? If you’re unsure - ask us. We’d love to play and see if it suits or not

🌼 LONG STEMS OR SHORT STEMS?
We generally use fairly short stems unless specifically requested (generally with long stem roses). This ensures the bouquet is held well and also naturally tilted a touch forward due to the weight. It also means the stems aren’t poking into you.

🌼 MAIDS TO MATCH?
It depends on your wedding vibe but playing with having a single flower en masse for each maid is a really beautiful idea. Otherwise playing with different colour blocking can playful. It also depends on the maids dresses!

🌼CAN I CHOOSE THE SIZE?
Nope! We have set prices for our personals which allows us to create in the style we love to create in. Come to us if you love a more full bouquet, a little wild & garden-like. Have a look at our past bouquets to see if you love them
