Next up, sphere crystal holder! I really wanted to find a different method to showcase my sphere crystals! This was done 3 times using the same dye but 3 different cuts of leather to show how the tanning process/quality of leather etc can impact a piece!

To anyone who has supported me in this journey, to those that have seen how shredded my hands have become (I don't mind so much) or the knots in my back from repetitive movements. THANK YOU! I am beyond grateful to those who have invested their very hard earned money into my work! It's true a little piece of me goes into every single piece that leaves my bench.
Momma turtle made some baby bag pull babies. These are so stinking cute!
Playing with different dye techniques to mimic airbrushing till I break into learning that skill. This guy was so fun to make. Especially when you put the pattern together backwards 🤣🤣 few redos and voila. Love how this one turned out!
Got a favourite animal you might like to see come to life? Send me a message.
Another new one coming soon!
It has been a busy few weeks working away on projects. A few off the bench the last little while.
Up first we have a Mannequin bust. Hand cut and stitched and dyed layering colours using denim.
Then we have weathered buffalo leather passport covers and wallet. Loved this leather so much I snagged one of the wallets!
And lastly we have Mr Teddington. Made from some espresso brown leather and weathered buffalo for the contrast on snout and ears. He is slightly weighted so can be used for calming disregulation (think weighted blanket). He can be made in various leathers and weights (or just stuffed)
It's been a fun couple of weeks. Stay tuned for upcoming projects!
When I said I like to take the scared, branded, stretch mark ridden pieces to use those to showcase I wasn't kidding. I can't wait for this build, but look at how epic this looks with the brand as the focal point! The way I dyed this was super cool and really makes it stand out. 💜💜💜
Now that the gift has been received I can post pics of my latest project. I was blessed to be gifted some leather jackets to upcycle and in exchange I made a special gift as a thank you as a "hug from mom" deal. Had to learn basic quilting skills to do this but happy with the results. Front and back side!
When it comes to sourcing leather, I strive to find and source as ethically as possible. Yes,it is possible for a lot of what I make. That said, I'm digging upcycling now as well. Not only was I gifted a saddle to learn on but a dear friend gifted me some old leather jackets to turn into various creations. I can't wait to return one of them back to her upcycled Into something new.
I suspect I may become a thrift store shopper to find great deals, heck even If I don't use the leather from purses etc, the hardware savings alone will be amazing
Thanks to a very generous gift of this English saddle, I am about to embark on deconstructing and rebuilding it to further advance my leather skills and start to blend myself more into the horse world. I am beyond excited to learn this!
As we close out 2023 I want to give a heartfelt Thank You To each and every one of you who have supported me and my endeavours this past year. I am humbled and so grateful and my mind is blown to know the work I have done on leather has spread coast to coast and even internationally! 💜💜💜
So proud of this guy right here. He took his time to properly lay the stitch line down, his auntie gave him a wicked trick to do his saddle stitch easier, and he plugged away at it till it was done!
He was brave and even tackled the antiquing. He can come back to my shop anytime.
It's a wrap on the 2023 Christmas orders! Just placed my last stitch on my last pre-order!! Now for some personal items and a couple gifts to be delivered after Christmas. Thank you to everyone who placed an order, my helper elves who assisted me where they could to get these all completed on time! A few highlights below! (Photo cred to their new owners for these, I didn't take pictures of most of the items, so please feel free to share and tag me in yours!!
Nephews visiting and he really wanted to make himself a belt. Putting him to work so he can appreciate the time it takes! I may have myself an apprentice haha
Leather work is a lot like woodworking. The edge work is often what makes the piece. It's a Long process to get a smooth glass finish. Not all pieces receive that treatment as it often is fitting to leave them raw. But these rocking horses receive the full spectrum treatment. From 220grit up to 2500 then finished with an edge treatment and brown paper rubbed to create the glass finish. The process can take hours in some instances but the end results are worth it!
