Join us in this special and interactive workshop to learn the utmost correct recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah 🤝

Abu Sa’id Ar-Rafi’ bin Al-Mu’alla (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Shall I teach you the greatest Surah in the Qur’an before you leave the mosque?” Then he (ﷺ), took me by the hand, and when we were about to step out, I reminded him of his promise to teach me the greatest Surah in the Qur’an. He (ﷺ) said, “It is ‘Alhamdu lillahi Rabbil ‘Alamin (i.e., Surat Al-Fatihah) which is As-Sab’ Al-Mathani (i.e., the seven oft- repeated Ayat) and the Great Qur’an which is given to me.” [Al-Bukhari].

The workshop will take place over two days to make sure everyone attending gets a chance to practice!

The genocide on Gaza is spilling over to Lebanon‼️

On Sept 23, the israeli occupation launched their “new phase” of their genocide on Gaza, this time spilling their inhumane, barbaric attacks on innocent civilians in Lebanon. During the first 24 hours alone, the Israeli occupation killed at least 558 Lebanese people. The Israeli occupation continues its aggression against Lebanon. At least 37 people were killed and 151 wounded by Israeli attacks on Lebanon in the last 24 hours alone. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced with nowhere to go.

While the UBC administration continuously fails to recognize the genocide for what it is and ignores the calls of its students to cut its complicity in genocide and directly address Islamophobia, we expect to see a rise in Islamophobia and anti-palestinian hate on campus. So we ask you to be aware of your environment and stay safe when tackling misinformation and standing for what’s right. 

If you experience Islamophobia or discrimination, don’t stay silent. Report incidents immediately. The Muslim Students’ Association is here for you. Reach out for help when needed, whether for reporting or emotional support. We stand together in support of the truth and we will continue to demand justice. 🤝

M***i Nabil Khan was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. He began Islamic studies at Al-Ihsan Institute at the age of 15, where he became a Graduate of the Dars Nizami under the supervision of M***i Aasim Rashid and other esteemed instructors. In the 5th year, Shaykh Nabil Khan also studied in Darul Uloom Bury U.K.. M***i Nabil Khan currently acts as an Imam in a number of local mosques leading prayers, teaching children, and conducting programs of all varieties. He also supervises and consults the BCMA Halal monitoring in the B.C Lower MainLand, conducts numerous lectures throughout British Columbia for the youth, and is the founder of the Deen leam youth initiative. In addition to this Mutti Nabil Khan is an instructor for Arabic, Bachelors of Islamic Studies, Short courses in Al-Ihsan Institute of Higher Islamic Education.🕌

M***i Taha Masood, born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, is distinguished Islamic scholar. He completed memorization of the Quran by 16 and further pursued Islamic Studies in Canada, Pakistan, and the UK. He graduated with honours in 2013 after studying under renowned and esteemed scholars. He specializes in Islamic Jurisprudence and is currenty pursuing a degree in Education. As the Head Administrator at Al-Ihsan Institute in Vancouver, he oversees educational and community programs, and teaches advanced Islamic studies. M***i Taha has been an integral part of MSA UBC educational programs this year and is an advisor and mentor to the MSA UBC team.🕌

M***i Shujaath Ali is the imam of Masjid ul Haqq in Vancouver and has been a community leader and teacher for over a decade in the Lower Mainland. He got his bachelor’s degree in Islamic sciences and master’s degree in Islamic jurisprudence from renowned Islamic institutions in India. M***i Shujaath is part of numerous religious committees, including the religious board of the British Columbia Muslim Association (BCMA) and the Muslim, Christian and Jewish Triologue committee. He gives lectures and halaqat on various topics throughout the Lower Mainland and was nominated as Ambassador for peace by the universal peace federation in 2006. M***i Shujaath is currently part of the MSA UBC Advisory Council is the MSA UBC Religious Leader.🕌
