The South Alberta Hockey Academy is pleased to announce Chad Kletzel as the Assistant Coach of our Male U17 Prep team for the 2024/25 season! Chad has an extensive background in hockey, teaching, and coaching. Kletzel played four years with the Lethbridge Pronghorns following four years of junior with the Edmonton Ice, Lethbridge Hurricanes and Fort McMurray Oil Barons. He has a dozen years of coaching experience from U7 to the WHL and everything in between. Chad has been an educator since 2006 and serves as a scout and training camp coach for the Spokane Chiefs. We are excited to have Chad in our program!

We are still in need of a few more billet homes for our students.

Congrats to our U18 Prep girls who helped EBHS grab the Medicine Hat Minor Softball Association U19 High School Championship defeating their fellow teammates in the final!

SAHA blueliner Owen Brees has signed with the Devon Xtreme of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for the 2024-25 season. As a member of our U18 Prep team, Owen was excellent in all three zones and reliable in all situations. Well deserved Owen!

Josh Evaschesen is our first student to be awarded the prestigious Dave Rozdeba AAA Award at Eagle Butte High School! Josh’s unwavering daily commitment to education, sport and being a quality human are evident in this recognition. Congrats Josh!

Congratulations to our six students who were recognized for their Pride in being Eagle Butte High School Talon student-athletes at the EBHS Athletic Awards banquet!

Eight of our students grabbed Most Valuable Player / Most Outstanding Athlete honours in five different sports at the annual Eagle Butte High School Athletic Awards banquet Wednesday night! Congrats!

Another great day at Irvine School! Our U18 Prep girls spent their Monday morning working with the amazing students in Irvine.

The South Alberta Hockey Academy is pleased to announce Jaeger White as the Head Coach of our Male U17 Prep team for the 2024/25 season! Jaeger assumed the role of assistant coach of the U17 Prep team in April after receiving his Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary. White has an extensive playing background. He was a WHL 4th round pick of the Lethbridge Hurricanes, played 225 games with the WHL, represented Team Alberta at the WHL Cup, and played four years at the University of Calgary where he earned a Bachelor of Education degree, was three time Academic All-Canadian and a Calgary Booster Club Scholar Athlete of the Year recipient. We are excited to have Jaeger in our program!

Our U18 Prep boys spent their morning reading to and with the students at Irvine School. The boys came prepped with books to read and questions for students. Thank you for having us!

Our U18 Prep boys finished their week off in the community on Friday by helping out the Root Cellar hand out bags to collect non-perishable items around Redcliff.

It was a cool but successful day at the track yesterday for our SAHA students. Shout out to the following students who all captured at least one first or second and will be representing EBHS at Zones: Marley Howes, Keyana Bert, Maddy Ferguson, Keira Grant, Addison Eurich, Lauren Hassler and Sophie Erlam.

Alumni Spotlight - Former U18 Prep student Ryan Miller wrapped up his 16 year-old year with the Portland Winterhawks last week. Ryan got a late start to the season coming off shoulder surgery but was a mainstay in the Winterhawks lineup upon his return and throughout their playoff run. He finished his rookie season with 15 points adding a couple more in the playoffs helping Portland capture the WHL Western Conference Championship. As a member of SAHA, both our High Performance Academy at Parkside and our U18 Prep team, Ryan was a key contributor to the continued growth of our program with his unwavering drive and attention detail!

Congrats to our 09/10/11 PD Day 3 on 3 Champs!

SAHA goaltender Ben Polhill has signed with the Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League for the 2024-25 season. Ben was a welcome late addition to our program this year and he left his mark with our U18 Prep team immediately. Well deserved Ben!

A bitter sweet shoutout to Coach White who has accepted a job next season as Head Coach and General Manager of the Princeton Posse of the KIJHL.

Torrin’s passion for the game and dedication to our program are truly remarkable. Torrin has been integral in building the SAHA program from our inception in 2020. His guidance both on and off the ice has had a significant impact on the growth and development of our students. From the ice, to school, to life lessons, his support never waivers.

We still have three more skater spots for our full ice 3 on 3 at the Hockey Hounds on May 17.

Attention 2009, 2010 and 2011 athletes. On May 17 SAHA will be hosting a full-ice 3 on 3 tournament at the Hockey Hounds Rec Centre from 8:15-11:45am.

The first 36 players and 4 goalies to register and submit payment will be entered into the tournament. Payment information will be emailed upon receiving registration.

Cost is $65 and includes a SAHA t-shirt and prizes.
