And breathe...

MEDITATION
Meditation is one technique that has proven to reduce anxiety and stress. I've been teaching and guiding meditation practices for groups for years.

And in fact, meditation has been around since the ancient days and has been used for many more things that just relaxation. Today it's one of the go-to's for relaxation and stress reduction, however, it's not very stress reducing if you have some busy brain ideas about what it is and why your brain won't do it.

So lets address this a bit, so you might be able to take it up and begin to experience some deep changes for yourself.

It’s quite easy to meditate.

Challenges sometimes occur when we aren’t really sure what this really is. In its simplest form, meditation is sitting quietly focusing on the inhale and exhale of the breath. The goal (if any) is to simply observe your attention, without response to it.

Observer Mode:

I’m sure you are aware of the thousands of thoughts running through your mind every day. That’s just your inner narrator, and we all have one. As you become more focused on your breath you can allow the busy mind to “just be” and when you find yourself returning to those thoughts and lists of things to do…just return your focus to your "in drawn breath"

The more you focus on returning your thoughts to your breath, observing your breath in and out, the more your nervous system will relax. Now, shift your breathing pattern to “ballooning out the belly” with your breath. This activates the relaxation response in your body and brain. The heart rate slows, breathing becomes easy and effortless, and thoughts slow down. Random thoughts will come in, now breathe, and watch as they do not have to stay. Simply notice them and come back to focusing on your indrawn breath.

If you are not used to meditating, it’s a good idea to begin with just a few minutes at a time. To sit still and quiet the mind for three minutes might sound intimidating and really it’s easier than you think. Even just 5 minutes will be surprising to you, when you just follow the indrawn breath, and use each breath to relax and let go. What will happen over time is that you will get used to the process of being mindful, and come to experience not only a deep sense of relaxation, your body and brain will become so accustomed to the daily process, it will actually begin to signal you at the designated time to meditate

When reducing anxiety levels, practicing meditation daily at the same time and start off with a few minutes and increase in increments up to 15 or 20 minutes per day. A great time to do this is either in the morning when you awake or in the evening before you go to sleep. It’s all right if you fall asleep while meditating in the evening, yes many professional meditators will disagree and say you must be sitting up and have a short list of the must do for each meditation time, however, meditation may help you sleep more peacefully too.

You will begin to notice any time if you feel anxiety increasing, the body will automatically take a few deep breaths in, and you are retraining the inner processor. Take a few deep breaths and then focus on your breathing. You will find that within a couple of minutes, your feelings of anxiety will decrease.

Meditation reduces anxiety with practice and is great for reducing stress as well as improving mental cognitive awareness, sensory acuity, while ultimately retraining the neuro functions of the brain.

What wires together, fires together; If high stress loads keep you on edge constantly, the easiest way to retrain the response is to teach the brain a different pattern, a new strategy and enjoy the results.

After all, just think if you gave up on tying your shoes because it was too challenging where would you be today?

Thought I would post this story of how I got started into working with Deep Trance and the power of the inner mind!

This is how I started into all this doing recordings for children. Some 20 years ago now I became aware of a really sad case:

A colleague mentioned they had a 6 year old with 3d Degree burns to 60% of his body and not expected to live.
That might have been why the doctors allowed me to do TAPES for him, (yes tapes not mp3s) At that time, they felt he would not survive even the next 10 days.

I thought if he was going to die anyway, he could let the anger at the accident that caused all this, be left to his parents and police and he could forgive the three boys that sprayed bbq lighter on him and through a match at him. A neighbour saw, and got him quickly to roll and put the fire out,

Then to hospital and that is where I came in.

Well, he lived, that was August, and so I found myself doing series of tapes for him, I used his NAME in the guided visualizations. and even through the deep medication he made some inner choices.

He was on monitors at Sick Kids and so the nurses could see his blood gases and heart rates would all level out and drop when he was listening to the tapes. (it was the first time I had monitors to observe what was going on in the body when in deep relaxation, deep trance, deep guided visualization, meditation, hypnotic trance)

He had severe burns to his left hand and the tendons were damaged, so physio thereapy was about to give up, “that won’t get better been exposed to the air much too long"

So I did a tape of he and I mountain biking and we had to use the gears on the bike to brake, and shift, and in the deep trance state, he moved his hand!

The nurses saw and that kept the team focused on getting his hand working again. And it recovered.

Eventually they started skin graphs to which the docs said, “these won’t work, he’s too badly burned, infections will be hard for his body to handle”

So I did a tape with little paint brushes and hands that would reach out to each other from the surface of the skin to the new skin, and they painted special glue onto the two surfaces and then the hands CLASPED onto each other. He had very few rejections and zero infection.

I also suggested inside his mind, to go inside when the pain was too HOT and turn all the RED switches to blue. Even the hard to reach ones he could float up and get them all.

I reminded him often 'his body knew who it was in it's "healthy" state'. It knew himself fully and what it wanted to do, to grow up. It had its own intentions, and he could remember even right now, what it felt like to be healthy and whole. In fact it was only just a few days or weeks ago, and that for his whole life already he had known himself as Cody fully healthy. He was continuing to "remember himself" RE-MEMBER himself to his own template

At the wonderful age of 6, we believe in magic, heck Santa Clause is still pretty real. The tooth fairy too. Probably could fly if I really wanted to...

He went home a Christmas that same year, in just a few months time.

I was giving a presentation to nurses in January, I chose to share Cody’s story and three of them came up to me after and said, they were his nurses! And they used to go in and listen to the recordings too!

They also shared that two helicopter pilots had come in with 3D burns to their hands, and Cody would go in each day and share with them how to turn their switches to blue!

He’ll be in his 20’s now, and I had reminded him often, he would one day be as tall as his dad, and that he could keep one tiny scar if he wanted to remind himself of his own
Super Powers in healing, so no matter what challenges he might face, he would always know they he could do whatever he set his mind to. I also suggested to his mom that he continue to use the tapes at home, whenever he needed a reminder of just how truly powerful he really is.

Just right now we've been listening to the HEAL SUMMIT, listening to Gregg Braden, and Dr. Joe and last night Jim Kwik the author of Limitless, and I remembered these early days working with the deep psyche and just how powerful our brain truly is.

When it's all in alignment with the heart, the mind, and the body...we have a powerful tool for recovery and just about anything else we want to focus on too.

Jim said last night : Great power comes through Great Responsibility and Great Responsibility comes with Great Power.

At the time of working with Cody, I didn't really know what would come, and instead I followed the clues from his nurses and doctors. Whatever they suggested I would find another way to shift it into positive suggestions for healing and he might not have followed it either, but he did. That says a lot about the human spirit and it's desire to not just live, but thrive, even through intense moments that life throws at us.

What I really cloaked myself in, was the sacred space between he and I - soul to soul, just holding space, where he could reach into who he truly was, and we could play and do things and he could heal while we did it. Just for a time he remembered being 6.

What are the chances we're meant to make this Leap now into expanded consciousness and a deeper awareness of our capacity to not only heal, excel?

Pretty excited about the future Now.
