Walk-in closet (formerly the bathroom) being completed today. Also, the back staircase we opened up now has a proper railing. This former Airbnb space is now the master bedroom.
Choosing stair carpet was harder than expected, but I think we've found the right one.
Laundry room is almost done.
We decided to open up the back staircase that was closed off. It leads to our back entrance. This was our Airbnb as it had its own entrance, balcony and bathroom. We've shut down the Airbnb and turned the bathroom into a walk-in closet. Once we have new flooring and a railing up, this will be the master suite. It's one of the last few projects left. It feels good to be so close to completion.
This small workout room has 7 outlets π§
Supervisor Casie is always on duty! Pantry is getting walls and electrical today.
Upstairs main bathroom. Before, during and after a complete gut and renovation.
Tile time
Taping and mudding next. Our favorite job π
Waiting for a Realtor to get back to you on their listing price recommendation can feel like forever. She was only here yesterday, and finding comparables for our home is a daunting task in itself, but still checking my phone every time it notifies of a new email π
Island is going in today. Still waiting for cupboard doors to come in (from Italy, so hopefully soonπ€). We're also doing electrical to the island for more convenience when cooking.
Kitchen floor is drying. These are the same porcelain tiles we used in our master ensuite in our Ottawa project and loved them. We have guests in our Airbnb leaving today so the tiles needing to be cut will be laid today. We didn't want the tile saw disturbing them.
We always leave a message somewhere. This will be behind a new cabinet in the kitchen.
Teaching the little to build and install cupboards today. It's been a long process getting this kitchen done because of delays due to Covid, but we rise above that and perservere.
Looking better by the day! Our delayed wood order finally came in to replace the kitchen floorboards. Durock is down, second coat of mudding being done today (air conditioning and a dehumidifier going 24/7!). Sanding and painting should be done by Tuesday. Then floor and cupboards. A Montreal company is coming to measure for stone countertops. Not sure if we're going with granite or quartz, we'll go with whatever slab matches best.
The old kitchen was hauled away today. So thankful for companies like Tomlinson in Ottawa who will recycle most of our waste instead of ending up in landfil
More flooring on the kitchen walls π Cupboards are being emptied and taken out today (we found a new home for them which is really exciting because they won't end up in a landfill).
The new kitchen is slowly being delivered. We're preparing the old kitchen for demolition, and rebuild should begin early July.
We had major delays on this bathroom because of the store closures due to lockdown, but finally back at it. The tub was delivered awhile ago and was a lovely decoration in our hallway for awhile, but we're happy it's now in it's proper home π
New kitchen is being delivered this weekend, so stay tuned for updates. We contacted a trusted Realtor and discussed our kitchen plans. She gave great advice on what buyers will be be looking for in our area.
Richard was only unsupervised for a few minutes and this happened π
We need this kitchen wall open to do the plumbing for the second upstairs bathroom reno as the layout is changing, and the kitchen is the next project anyway. A few cupboard doors are on the verge of falling off, so it's a much anticipated reno.
The previous owners put flooring on the kitchen walls. This house has been full of surprises.
Almost down to the bare bones so we can start rebuilding this bathroom.
Hmmm there was a window in this bathroom at one time.
On to the next project. So that was a chimney for the kitchen stove when it was wood burning. Been capped for a long time might as well reclaim the space. The old cast iron air stack doesn't vent out either so it can come out too.
Getting there.
From the other side.
Coming together. A little at a time.
Painted and Flooring installed.
Grouted, still need to install the edge trim once the room is painted.
