Meet the Speakers for our Embracing Career Challenges 2023 Conference!

Kelly Hamilton, Director, Immigration Services, Confederation Capital

"Student immigration: Questions all international students should ask when considering options to stay permanently in Canada after graduation:

What are my options to live and work in Canada post-graduation?

Am I eligible for a post-graduate work permit?

When can I start working after graduation?

If you have graduated from a recognized designated learning institute on PEI or in Canada and want to extend your stay temporarily or permanently, can you do it?

The answer is Yes!

You may be able to seek open employment and Permanent Residence after applying for a post-graduate work permit.

This session will outline your options, including the Atlantic Immigration, Express Entry, and Provincial Nominee Programs, Depending on your job, education and language skills, you may qualify for any one of these programs once you find full-time employment after graduation. An Immigration Consultant can offer you qualified help to determine what path best suits your situation. Not all paths are suitable for everyone, but most with a valid job can seek long-term residency.

Employers across Atlantic Canada are facing skills shortages and turning increasingly to newcomers to fill job vacancies. What can employment services do to help newcomers understand and navigate the complex options, and what can employers be aware of to secure the right people with the right knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet their needs?

As employers or agencies helping newcomers to seek employment, one should always consider education, work experience and language ability. Armed with this information and the help of an Immigration Consultant, you can identify how best to fill your labour shortages both short and long-term, using a number of federal and provincial immigration programs."
