Today is in Alberta! Persons Day signifies the day that the Famous 5 came together to declare women as Persons! And today, on October 18th 2024, it is the 95th Anniversary of this courageous and absolutely necessary movement that has given women the ability to vote, have a voice and SO MUCH MORE. Join us today at Olympic Plaza to celebrate from 12-1pm! We will be there with the Famous 5 Foundation hearing from a variety of dignitaries and visiting with the F5 before they move the their new home!

Let's Stand Up for the Famous 5!

As part of the vision for Calgary's Olympic Plaza transformation, is the goal of creating an arts-focused gathering space in the downtown core. At this time, there is no certainty that the 'Women Are Persons!' monument will remain in place as part of this vision.

For 25 years, this larger-than-life bronze tribute to Alberta's Famous 5 has stood in Olympic Plaza, near Calgary City Hall. It is a legacy to courage, tenacity and the belief that we are all 'persons'. It is a tribute to the 'Persons' Case verdict announced October 18, 1929. At the time of its installation it was part of the largest public art project in Canada and it was designed and funded entirely by women! We believe that it is vital that this tribute to the Famous 5 remain in Olympic Plaza and that it stands as a permanent reminder to the principle of equality for all and to inspire future generations of leaders.

As we prepare to celebrate the 95th Anniversary of the 'Persons' Case this coming October 18th, let's stand up for the five Alberta women who stood up for all 'persons'!

This amazing facility marks the beginning of bolstered support needed for the many children and families in need of respite care in our city.

This campaign, which Social Centric was proud to lead, resulted in more than 25 pieces of media coverage across Calgary, and nationally. We were also proud to secure more than 350,000 impressions on social media, which will support the need for this important message and resource to reach the people that need it most.
