It is official! We have a CAMPT-Certified physiotherapist at PhysioWell.
Sarah passed her Advanced exams with the Advanced Integrated Musculoskeletal (AIM) Program through the CPA in the Fall 2023 and has some updated credentials!
“CAMPT-Certified physiotherapists are Fellows of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT) that have completed post-graduate education and attained internationally-recognized qualifications in hands-on therapy. We provide focused treatment based on research-guided techniques that speed up patient recovery while educating them about their condition to reduce the risk of relapse.”
She is very excited to continue to practice and expand on the skills she has learned in the last several years of taking these courses! For more information, visit https://manippt.org/, or reach out to us and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have! 613-955-2000.
Wishing Everyone a Bright and Happy Easter 💚🩷
Congratulations to Nova Scotia! Beginning in spring 2024, all physiotherapists in NS will be able to refer patients for x-rays. This news mean people will have better access to the right care at the right time.
However, after almost 15 years, the Ontario government has stalled this process in our province. This process began in 2009, when Bill 179 was passed - with all-party support. Bill 179 allows physiotherapists to work up to full scope of practice, including ordering diagnostic imaging, but has yet to be completed. Ontarians are still waiting for the full promise to be fulfilled.
Sylvia Jones FordNation Ontario Ministry of Health, now is the time to follow through on the promise made to Ontarians. It is proven that physiotherapists working up to their full scope of practice can help alleviate the increasing pressures on the health care system. Other provinces are taking the step forward with proven success, and Ontario should be next.
We are all boarded up and will reopen for business tomorrow morning. Our temporary entrance will be at the rear (South side) of the building.
We thank you for your understanding.
PhysioWell Team
Many have likely heard there was an accident at the front of our office today. Everyone is safe. We are hoping to reopen for business tomorrow but will keep you posted if we have to reschedule appointments this week.
Many thanks.

Physiotherapy is…
Continuous learning!!
Rebecca was on course this weekend to be trained in administering acupuncture. Great job Rebecca!
Now both of our therapists will be able to offer acupuncture as an adjunct to your physiotherapy treatment. Call to book your appointment, 613-955-2000.
Have you ever heard of DeQuervain’s Tenosynovitis? …. Try saying that ten times fast!
This is a clinical term for an injury that involves inflammation in the sheath around a couple of the thumb tendons at the side of your wrist. It can cause terrible pain when lifting, gripping, or extending your thumb. Ouch!
Fun fact: anyone can get it, but it commonly affects mothers of young children because of the frequent lifting motion, and other possible reasons.
If you are having wrist pain, don’t hesitate to reach out for an assessment and treatment with one of our physiotherapists. We will likely be able to help! 613-955-2000.
Wishing everyone a very happy Thanksgiving.
Congratulations to our PhysioWell team for a great season with the Bay of Quinte Women’s Soccer League!
Thank you so much for having us sponsor this year! 💚🖤
We are honoured to be nominated and continue to be so appreciative of our fantastic and supportive clients 🥰 Thank you!

Frozen Shoulder. I’m sure a lot of you have heard of this one, or know somebody who has had it!
Also known as “Adhesive Capsulitis”, Frozen Shoulder is tightening and inflammation of the capsule or group of ligaments that surround the shoulder joint.
This can be an extremely painful and debilitating condition, and unfortunately often comes without any trauma or previous shoulder injury. Although it doesn’t have a single specific cause, there have been common risk factors identified in the research.
The diagnosis is often made by ruling other things out first and it doesn’t usually show on standard imaging. Clinically, physiotherapists are trained to identify the pattern of restriction that is characteristic of Frozen Shoulder and can luckily often help with diagnosing it.
Unfortunately, recovery can be a long road, sometimes a year or more once treatment has commenced, but physio can help speed this along and get you moving sooner with less pain! Call us if you need help to identify and treat the cause of your shoulder pain. 613-955-2000.
Yesterday was a beautiful day for a golf tournament. We had a lot of fun and we were proud to represent PhysioWell for some of our long time clients. 💚
Thank you to the Christos family for your continued generosity and support!
As clinicians, we get asked by clients all the time “Should I be getting imaging done?” (ex: X-rays, MRIs, CT).
The answer we often give may surprise people. The truth is, imaging isn’t always necessary or appropriate, especially when the findings of the X-ray or MRI won’t change the treatment plan moving forward.
Spinal MRIs in particular are notorious for showing abnormalities that may not even be contributing or relevant to someone’s pain. And in some ways, having these types of results can even hinder recovery!
Sure, there are some circumstances when we refer back for medical re-assessment and/or imaging, but this is often in the case where we want to rule out something more serious (ie: fracture, infection, tumour, organ dysfunction). In addition, we may also refer back to a doctor for imaging when we think a surgery may be warranted. These are just a couple of examples…
Keep in mind, we view imaging results as only a part of the whole clinical picture. How someone is functioning and what their main complaints are is far more important to us because this is where we can help you (regardless of what an MRI may say)!
If you have had some imaging that doesn’t seem so favourable, keep in mind that a physiotherapist or osteopath can still likely help you in some way! If you would like to discuss further, or book a comprehensive orthopedic assessment with one of our clinicians, call our clinic at 613-955-2000.
Plantar fasciitis
Achilles Tendinopathy
Heel spurs
Tennis elbow / Lateral Epicondylitis
Golfer’s elbow / Medial Epicondylitis
Calcific rotator cuff tendinitis
If you are suffering from any one of these injuries, you probably know how stubborn they are, and how resistant to traditional physiotherapy or at-home treatment they can be!
This is just a small list of conditions that ShockWave Therapy (SWT) may be able to help with.
Shockwave therapy is an effective, non-surgical/non-invasive treatment used by physiotherapists to treat musculoskeletal conditions that have resulted in persistent and chronic pain ( > 3 months).
We purchased our machine a few years ago, and are one of the only clinics locally that offer this service. Our physiotherapists will first perform a comprehensive initial assessment to determine if SWT would be appropriate for you and then proceed from there.
If you want to further inquire about SWT, please give our clinic a call and we would be happy to help! 613-955-2000
