Christmas Dove Crafts
High quality, local handmade Christmas decorations. From ornaments to large outdoor decorations. The majority of my work is in pine, but I also do cloth.
Hi, my name is Peggy Meisner and I started making crafts over 35 years ago. My business is based in New Germany, Nova Scotia and my workshop is on a farm there. I make Christmas decorations that can go outdoors, on you floor, wall or shelf - tree ornaments too! I usually do 5 - 6 crafts shows a year (mostly in metro Halifax) and also sell some out of my workshop by appointment.
I was watching TV and look what I spotted on a Charm Diamond commercial! That's one of my Lamp Post's on the right.π Sooo cool!
Merry Christmas to everyone π

Here's a new version of my lamp post. The original two are also available. All include a personalized sign, done while you wait. They are about five feet high and can be used outdoors.
Hope you can make the show.

Here is a very unique craft. I found some very old bell poultry waterer's that I adapted to look like Christmas bells. They can be hung in a tree and used as bird waterers. They are about 16" across at the bottom, so they are quite large. I have two versions and I'm not sure which I like the best.
The one on the left has a wooden "clapper", the one on the right has a rusty bell "clapper". Which do you like the best? My husband and I can't agree (as usual π)
I'm not sure if the price yet - it's a game day decision π and I've only had time to make a few.
Peggy
Can't wait for the year to start!
These snowmen are available with or without the cardinal. They are about 38" high.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope you are having a great day.
I have finished the antique balusters from the Burpee House in Saint John. I'm really happy with how they turned out - I hope you like them too π
They will be with me at my first show - the Dartmouth Handcrafters Guild Craft Show at the Zatzman Sportsplex in Dartmouth. The show runs from October 20, 21 & 22, 2023. The hours are:
October 20th 2pm to 9pm
October 21st 10am to 6pm
October 22nd 10am to 4pm
Hope to see you there.
Peggy
Hi there. Itβs September already and Iβve had a productive year, but Iβm still trying to cram a few last minute things in β as usual π
The balusters (pictured below) were bought last year and I only had time to make a few finished ones for last craft season. These are very unique items as these are from the Burpee House of Saint John which was built in the 1830βs. I had linked to an article about it but it was blocked by Facebook, but if you search it you will find some interesting articles about it.
I will try and make something unique with them as they are all one of a kind. Any ideaβs ?? Till later ...

Hi there. Itβs September. Shows are soon about to start. We have had a productive year so far but as always I am still trying to cram a few things in β haha.
I had bought these balusters (see below) last year and only had time to put out a few. They came from the Burpee House which was built around 1835. There is a link below if you want to read up on it. I will try to turn these into unique pieces as they are all one of a kind. What do you think I should make out of them?
Till later ...

Just finished our last show of the year and we are taking a well earned vacation. Sorry if I didn't get to respond to some comments but I was so busy re-packing and travelling between the shows that I just didn't have the time. Thanks for all your kind words and I look forward to creating some more new crafts for next season!
Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I made a few of these woolly reindeer to get back to my roots. When I started making crafts everything was cloth and I miss the softness and texture. Instead of cutting cloth now I am cutting wood - but I have to be more careful of my fingers π.
They are quite large at 4' tall and have battery operated lights in the trees. See you at the Dartmouth Sportsplex, October 21st to the 23rd.ππ
Had fun antique shopping this year. These are antique spools still with the tread on them. Some I dyed the tread dark brown and others I left natural. I loved these trees with them and then added rusty bells. They are about 18" tall.
Just an note before the shows. Not everything will be at all shows as I am still working on some things and others are very limited quantities.
See you all soon,
Peggy and Todd (my underpaid helper) π haha
First show of the year for me is at Exhibition Park next weekend, October 7 -9!! Click on the link below to take you to the shows web site.

Thanks for all your great feedback on my Christmas trees. Here's a fun video for you.
Decorating the trees. Need some help. Which one is your favorite? 1-white tree with green garland, 2 - white tree with grapevine garland or 3- traditional green tree ? Thanks for the input. πππ
Craft Show season is fast approaching. Picked up a few of these rusty springs at an antique store (as well as some other neat items π). I have a very limited number of these springs and I'm pairing them with wool snowman heads. I'm still working on the final design.
Here we are bringing a load of lumber down from storage to our workshop.
My hubby and I are planing our lumber, getting it ready for our 2022 lineup. Turn your volume down - its LOUD π
Just wanted to wish every one a Merry Christmas this year and hope everyone stays safe. Todd and I are taking a little vacation for the month of December and then we start cutting for next years creations in January. Thanks to all of you and hope our crafts create a little more joy this year for you all. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
