6th EMERGE Award (2024)
Angad Hundal Society is happy to announce Tyson Crosby as the winner of 6th EMERGE award!
Tyson is from New Waterford, Nova Scotia and graduated from Breton Education Centre with Highest Distinction.
He lost his mother at a young age, to cancer, and I grew up with his Dad and two brothers. Things weren't always easy, but with the help of family and friends he found strength within himself to push forward. He played Varsity Basketball throughout his school, coached baseball and worked as a Hockey referee. He will be joining first year of the Bachelor Of Science Nursing Program at Cape Breton University!
‘I am thankful for this opportunity as this will be a huge step towards paying for my education’ He says.
Thank you, Tyson, for allowing us to share your story! Your mom will be proud for the young man you have become and so will be your family and friends, not to mention all the patients you will be providing nursing care. We wish you great strides in future!
We also want to use this opportunity to thank and congratulate his parents, teachers, and other professionals who helped and supported him throughout his journey.
9th Angad Hundal Memorial Award (2024)
Angad Hundal Society is happy to announce Cirrus Ball from Parkview Education Center, Bridgewater, as the winner of 9th Angad Hundal Memorial Award!
Cirrus Ball graduated from high school with distinction and gained early acceptance into Dalhousie's Applied Computer Science program. He was raised in both rural and urban settings and travelled to many countries with his parents.
As a result of his education from many schools with strikingly different environments which included an all-French Acadian school, a small Montessori school, and a much larger English language high school he learned to value constructive communication and turned into a well rounded young man.
He has always had a keen interest in social justice and advocacy. Along with volunteering with rescued animals, he also worked with special needs kids, which he found rewarding. He makes a conscious effort to contribute to his community.
Cirrus is looking forward to harness the positive impacts of computer science to bring meaningful changes to society.
Congratulations Cirrus! We hope that you will continue to be a role model.
Angad Hundal Society is thankful to all applicants, school board members, councillors and teachers for their continued support!
Angad Hundal Memorial and EMERGE scholarships were finally disbursed on Oct 8th!
September 22nd, which is usual disbursement date, was not possible due to some other events and we tried to combine the disbursement with Grand opening event of our clinic but hurricane Lee and post Tropical storm Phillipe decided to arrive in Nova Scotia on two of the two dates picked! We persisted and waited patiently for the storm to pass on Oct 8th to disburse the scholarships.
It was amazing to meet Keira in person. Jayce could not join but his mom Karen received on his behalf.
Once again, congratulations to the amazing winners!
