Drayton Valley Labour Association
DVLA is a non-profit organization that connects job seekers with employers.
DVLA
After almost a decade of a receding economy due to a drop in oil prices and the efflux of investment dollars, our community has suffered substantially. That is my primary reason for starting the Drayton Valley Labour Association. I believe the most efficient way to revitalize our economy and stimulate growth is through employment. Connecting businesses with the right labor resources will enable us to bring back much-needed jobs.
We will achieve this through creating four separate programs. The first program will provide support in the form of a resume, cover letter writing, and interviewing classes. These classes and resources will give our clients the tools they need to seek gainful employment. The second will be a temporary employment service or ”temp” service. This will build connections between our clients and potential employers while allowing our members to earn a temporary income. Next, we will offer a permanent job placement program. Utilizing our connections with local business partners, we will connect our clients with local employers, and actively assist them in finding work. Finally, we will initiate a microloan program with two objectives. The first will be to offer funds to start ups and new businesses allowing them to grow their organizations and hire more staff. The second will be to supply our clients with any resources and training needed to obtain gainful employment. These programs combined with our philosophy of hands-on coaching and emotional support will drive our partners to succeed in reaching their employment goals.
