When an emergency hits, it's critical for people have the information they need, fast. On Wednesday, Nov 16, 2022, at 1:55 PM (PST), a test of BC's wireless alerting system will take place, as a part of tests taking place across the country. While too many people across Canada struggle with long waits to get the care they need, the federal government's share of health funding has dwindled to just 22%.

We still need a fair deal from Ottawa so we can protect and strengthen health care from coast-to-coast-to-coast.

Firefighters are there for us when we're at our most vulnerable. We need to be there for them when they need us. That's why today we're even further expanding cancer coverage for firefighters.

Together, we've been able to make a lot of progress for people. I know David Eby and our whole BC NDP team will keep working to make life better for everyone in BC.

For a long time, Kody Bell and Mark Bridges have been two of my dearest friends. They're passionate about the BC legislature and watching the vigorous debates.

Since 2017, we've taken a much different approach to strengthening child care - saving parents up to $10,000 a year and creating spaces faster than any time in BC's history. But we know there's still much more to do.

A little extra help with the cost of living is on it's way! Today people will begin to receive the one-time enhanced Climate Action Tax Credit, a fast and easy way to get a little extra support for essentials, like groceries and gas. A family with two children can receive up to an additional $410.

The number of British Columbians without a family doctor has been a growing problem for two decades. This is another step in our ongoing work to help people get the health care they need, when they need it.

Fifty-four newly graduated doctors sign incentive contracts, another 65 in talks: Dix The Health Ministry offered the incentives to recent family medicine graduates through a new-to-practice family physician contract offered in June.

When local restaurants were being hit with outrageous fees by third-party apps, we took action to protect them. Now we're making the delivery fee cap permanent to support BC restaurants and to help keep prices affordable.

We've been on the front lines of the climate crisis - experiencing the devastating impacts, and leading the world in developing solutions to reduce carbon pollution.

Together with our Pacific Coast partners, we're doubling down on bold actions to build a cleaner future. Today I joined the Governors of Washington, Oregon and California in cooperation to:

✅ invest in more infrastructure like EV chargers & clean electricity
✅ protect communities from wildfire, drought, heat and flooding

This agreement builds on the progress we're making with the CleanBC Roadmap to 2030 that makes BC a climate leader in North America.

British Columbians and people around the world stand in solidarity with Iranians calling for gender equality, human rights and freedom.

Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian woman, was arrested by police on Sept. 13 in Tehran for showing her hair under her headscarf. Three days later, she was dead.

Amini’s death has sparked protests on the streets of Iran and international condemnation. Iranian women, and those around the world standing with them, are calling for justice, freedom and the right to choose their religious expression.

In BC, thousands gathered on the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery last week to show their support, along with other solidarity events throughout the province.

For the many British Columbians who have family and friends in Iran, this is an incredibly difficult time. The courage of Iranian women and their allies reminds us that we must stand together in support of women’s rights – across generations, gender and geography.

We just recently marked Gender Equality Week in British Columbia - a reminder that our work here at home continues.

Our government will always stand up for equality and justice, at home and abroad, and continue our work to build a better province and a better world.

Today, we remember and honour the Indigenous women, girls, two spirit, and gender-diverse people who have been murdered or gone missing because of who they are.

Indigenous women and girls are 4.5x more likely to be murdered than all other women in Canada. We must and we will do more to stop this.

To the families and communities of all the people who have been stolen: we hear your call for action. We are committed to ending gender-based violence and making BC a safe place for everyone.

Fighting climate change requires an all-hands-on deck approach. In a historic agreement signed with the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, we're sharing BC's Climate Change Adaption Model to help assess climate risks in South and Central Asia regions impacted by catastrophic flooding.

This builds on a long history of collaboration between BC and the Ismaili Muslim community. I'm pleased that our CleanBC plan can not only help build a stronger future for BC, but also make life better for people around the world.
