Getting ready for the weekend! Join us for SIXBYSIX, an innovative group exhibition featuring over 70 artists and 152 unique 6x6-inch artworks. Crafted from diverse materials and unrestricted creativity, each piece adheres to one simple rule: make a work of art no larger than 6 inches wide.  This amazingly diverse group exhibition represents artists from Vancouver, Victoria, Ontario, USA and France. Artists were asked to create a new 6x6-inch work of art or to transform a 6x6-inch wooden panel. They could use the panel as a traditional surface, shadow box, sculptural base, or even…as a container. They embraced the challenge with some very creative approaches! SIXBYSIX is free and open to all. Join our opening reception in person on Saturday, March 16, from noon-4 pm, or explore and purchase work online at thethisgallery.com. The online collection drops on Friday, March 15 at noon. As a unique twist, artworks can be taken home upon purchase, allowing the exhibit to evolve throughout the week. Early visitors will experience the full exhibition, while later arrivals will discover an ever-changing (dwindling) display.  Arrive early so you don’t miss your chance to own an original piece of art for just $300!

It’s almost time! The SIXBYSIX show opens this Saturday at noon! The only criteria given to the artists in the exhibition, was that the final piece had to be no more than 6 inches wide. They were encouraged to use a 6x6” wooden panel as a starting point. However, they could use it as a traditional 2D surface, flip it and use it as a shadow box, as a support for a sculptural piece or even as a container! They were also told that innovation would be rewarded. Of course, being creative by nature, many artists were up for the challenge! 155 artists submitted 344 works for consideration. We’ve chosen 152 of our favourites for the exhibition. All works exhibited at SIXBYSIX will be offered to the public for $300 each. It’s a great opportunity for collectors to purchase an original work of art at an affordable price. #sixbysix #6x6

The entrance is on Keefer St. You can access the elevator directly from the parkade to visit all of the galleries, businesses and cultural spaces located in the Centre.
