All That Grows
Creating climate resilient food systems, liveable landscapes and communities through stewardship, community connections and education
Seasons come and go and so do vehicles.
I loved my little Suzuki but it’s time had come and I needed something new.
This truck extends my range of service and allows me to have some leg room!
So keep an eye out for my logo on my new Mazda and come say hello!
The glory of pulling morning glory in the morning!
Another Saturday in the books for our Sacred Heart Garry Oak Restoration! We lucked out with our weather and have pulled a volume of almost 2000ft3! We couldn’t do it without our amazing volunteers💪
Another week done of our with the Nature Conservancy of Canada. Over 800lbs of Scotch Broom, Gorse and Himalayan Blackberry!
Today was the first volunteer day of our Sacred Heart Garry Oak Restoration Project with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Victoria in Saanich!
This massive property has remnants of a Garry Oak ecosystem that has been overrun by invasive Himalayan BlackBerry and English Ivy and John, myself and wonderful community volunteers have took on the task of removing these invasive to help protect the Garry Oaks and their ecosystems to create space to plant local native plant species.
Going forward every Saturday from 10am-12pm we will be at 4040 Nelthorpe St. pulling invasive.
If you are interested in joining, feel free to reach out through social media or email. Or just show up next Saturday!
Hello world!
As we slowly approach spring, sorting your seeds and starting to plan your gardens is a great way to get you excited for the growing season ahead.
This year, along with our landscaping services and Invasive Species Removal project, we will be starting a Farmer for Hire Initiative here at . We’re excited to do this work and bring it to the community! Feel free to check out the website for more info!
As our friends protect us with pollination for our food and flowers. It’s the time of year to help protect them.
Mason bees are native to this region and are a great option for increasing pollinators in your neighbourhood.
When the cold, rainy season comes it’s important to clean out your mason bee boxes.
Remove the eggs from their cavity nests and to get rid of mites and to protect them hungry winter insects!
Keeping them in a cold space or your fridge will keep them dormant until they are needed next season!
Go bees!
Oh the things you find in the seasonal rains.
Some folks don’t have the space to enjoy the yearly bulbs that push up throughout the year.
Seasonal bulb planters help with that.
This couple can enjoy the first signs of another spring with this mix of daffodils.
All That Grows and The GardenPath have come together and created an Invasive Species Removal Project in the Greater Victoria Area.
Both businesses have a passion for ecological restoration and want our communities to continue to thrive.

Sometimes you just need a haircut.
The best time for topiary work on Cyprus trees is in June/July to help keep growth to a minimum but to enjoy your space, there’s always next year.
It was a wonderful opportunity to work with and this past summer. Switching from the fields to the production and distribution sides of sustainable food systems was an amazing learning experience.
Sometimes clients don’t want the clean cut looks of a modern garden and love living in a natural landscape.
To keep true to their living landscape they want that natural look but still want to promote the native species that are already established but want them to thrive.
Removing the over growth of invasive species provides opportunities for other to flourish!
It’s always a pleasure working and continuing to build the relationship with the Naa’Waya’Sum Gardens in Clayquot Sound.
I always forget to take pictures when working there because of the serenity and beauty of the space.
We help to maintain the gardens, the vegetable raised beds as well as trail systems weaving through old growth forest on the property.
With the Level 3 drought, wildfire smoke and severe heat, we’re trying to balance the traditional knowledges and climate resiliency of the space.
With the learning gardens that they are we aim to keep the tourists and guests amazed by its diversity and beauty while also working to keep the space resilient as our climate changes.
If you’re in Tofino, definitely go and enjoy these gardens.
With the extreme heat and drought, a client is worried about fire hazards on their property. So they’ve had us remove foliage and debris away from their house.
A little pruning hair cut also doesn’t hurt!
It’s always a surprise when your wattle fences comes back to life!
Revamp part 3!
(I get so caught in the moment I forget to take pictures!)
This backyard space had been left to its own devices and had never really been used. It was over grown with bamboo and was just dirt underneath all the leaves.
After a good cut back and mulch, now the space is a clean slate for the soon to be new home owners.
Fun fact: the front yard drought tolerant pollinator garden is already full of wonderful little critters!
Reach out for some assessments and estimates!
Revamp day 2!
It’s so enjoyable helping people make their space into something they or other people would want to live around!
A Sunday start to a home revamp for a couple getting ready to sell their house!
Perennial, drought resistant plants and a nice screened mulch make it easier on the home owner and their water bills!
The fact that it will create a nice little refuge for their neighbour hood pollinators is a plus as well!
Picked up my order of new tools from yesterday!
With the summer pruning season and end of summer clean up upon us it’s great time to think about your tools.
The GR pro S-type Secateurs are a great long term option. No replacement blades needed as it’s a one piece carbon steel blade which you can just resharpen when the blade gets dull.
The Silky hand saws are great because they cut on the pull motion rather than push which makes it a more precise cut.
Not only are the tools sweet but Gardener’s Kit is local to Victoria! Highly recommend.
As always, reach out for your pruning, gardening and landscaping needs!
The benefits and privilege of having my own garden space is the opportunity to turn natures will into an experiment:
This bed has been left untended for at least 3 years and has consistently been reseeding itself with calendula. In addition to enjoying its beauty, harvesting its petals for teas and salves. I interplanted kale just before our first heat wave.
Since this wonderful plant dominated the space and sunlight it allowed the kale to establish roots, withstand the extreme heat and not go to seed instantly.
Now that the heat has temporarily subsided and the calendula has begun to finish its lifecycle. I’ve been able to allow the kale the space to grow, establish and provide me food late into the fall.
(For you garden nerds): I applied a no till method and cut the flower stalks at the root to leave in the soil and I’ve applied a top dressings of compost to replenish the nutrients the calendula had taken.
Results will follow in a few weeks!
It’s a mulberry blood bath today.
If you have abundance of fruits or veggies. It’s important to not waste the energy these wonderful plants put into growing them!
Preserve, freeze or give them away! Don’t let them rot!
Food for all is more than free food!
There are TONS of wonderful food rescues, distribution centres and sovereignty groups in that will gladly take your extra bounty!
We may be in the extreme heat of the summer and our gardens are full of flowers and food but🤞things will cool down and our fall plantings will need to get in soon.
There’s still time to seed your fall crops for them to get the sunlight they need to grow into the winter!
If you’re thinking of wanting some fresh greens and root crops for the winter, reach out and we can chat!

I had the opportunity to move into a wonderful home with a lot of fruit trees on the property. However, these trees had been neglected over the years and needed some love. This past winter I pruned them for maintenance, safety and production and they’ve never been happier!
