Some flowers we grow to meet sales and design trends, and others we grow simply because they’re just so weird and wonderful. Ferncliff Solar Flare definitely falls into the second category. Sure, she’s a great tuber seller, but there’s something so playful and striking about her wild, circus-inspired palette. A big thanks to Ferncliff Gardens for introducing us to this beauty a few years ago!

Dahlia days are here. The chill of autumn touches down each night even as the heat rolls back for another summery tease. I am revelling in these lush blooms, knowing they will be gone soon.

This week, I had the honor of creating our first bereavement bouquet. As we settle into our fourth year in this community, it’s becoming evident that our work extends beyond cultivating beauty and connecting with the land. It’s also about building trust with our customers and being part of the most significant moments in their lives. This particular bouquet was crafted for a mother mourning the loss of her baby—one of the most profound losses a being can endure. As I created it, I allowed the feelings of loss, pain, and despair to resonate within me, selecting stems that echoed the darkness, sorrow, and intensity of enduring such a loss. Dark and light blooms nestled together, with grasses bursting forth to symbolize new growth and the continuation of life. Every day, I learn more about the power of flowers to connect us to each other and ground us in our emotions. 💜💔💙
