This year marked Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee -- her 70th year on the Throne.

To commemorate her historic milestone and reign, recognize her 70 Years of Service and to reflect on Canada's storied relationship with the Queen, MP Vance Badawey will be awarding Platinum Jubilee Pins to some Niagara Centre community members who have shown commitment to making the lives of their neighbours better.

We are proud to say that Scouter Jeff will be receiving one of these prestigious awards at the ceremony held at the Seaway Mall Cineplex Court on December 18th, 2022 at 11:00am.

Congratulations Scouter -- may you continue to help develop well rounded boys and girls better prepared for success in the world!

Volunteers really do make a difference with 10th Welland Scouting!

We can see the difference in the faces of every boy and girl that gets to participate in an active program that helps them to develop into well rounded youth better prepared for success in the world.

We are looking for volunteers to work with our Beaver Scouts (age 5-7) and Cub Scouts (age 8-10). Both of these groups are nearing their capacity for youth registrations, and we want to make sure that everybody that wants to join us in our adventures can participate! More volunteers means that we can enroll more youth and the more youth and volunteers we have - the more fun we have on our outings, at our meetings and during our experiences.

No experience necessary - Clean Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required - All training provided.

Suitable for ages 14+, and for highschool students it can count for your volunteer hours too!

Each October, 10th Welland Scouts stand out front of participating business and hand out apples (locally grown from a farm in Grimsby) in exchange for donations towards our program & adventures. This year we are happy to say we have partnered once again with Walmart Canada to have our youth in front of the store on Saturday October 15 and Sunday October 16. We will also be at Mister Chips "Fry Stand" Welland during the lunch rush on Saturday October 15.

Please consider donating when you see us!

History of Apple Day
In 1932, the first Apple Day in Canada was held by New Brunswick Scouting. This came about because, in the 1920s, the provincial government had provided a grant to support Scouting but, with the stock market crash of 1929 and the beginning of the Great Depression, the grant was ended, and the Scouts had to find their own way to raise money. That October, over 21,000 apples were handed out as a way for Scouting to say Thank you to the community.

Since then, each October Scouts have been out in our communities to raise funds for their programs and adventures.

Afterwards he stayed and fielded some terrific questions from our Cubs and Scouts about local government and life in politics.

Thank you Mayor Campion for spending time with our youth and answering all their questions.
