Tonight we had the pleasure of listening to James Gibb Elvis Tribute out in Leamington. We were ‘all shook up’, he was fabulous!
Today we got together for some gaming! Geordie was able to show Keith some of his neat games and Keith got us through the next stage of Mario RPG (we’ve been stuck for a while). Afterwards we went for a walk around the block and Geordie tested out some of his new equipment!
After we dropped Keith off we took off to Ojibway Provincial Park for a change of scenery and then finished the day off with another neat Lego build!
These guys bowled so well today! We had so many strikes and spares it was hard to keep up! We done Fanelli's Friends and Ursa Major!
We started today by checking out PC Outlet! Kevin was so helpful when discussing Keith’s upcoming computer build. He was able to give some really helpful suggestions and ideas to help save some money and even a link to his book on web safety (https://thesafetyvillage.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Digital-Safety-Book-Version-1.0.pdf).
We then took a trip to Reach for The Skye and had a visit with the individuals there. It was great to meet everyone and we learned how to say bye in Yoruba (‘odaabo’)!
Afterwards, we took a trip to Metro to get some low sugar snacks and bread for lunch. Today we made egg salad sandwiches and they turned out
egg-cellent!
In the afternoon, Josie practiced some reading at the Windsor Public Library on their fancy iPads and we then visited our favourite hairdresser for a makeover. Pam never fails to make us smile and does an incredible job!
Cheap Tuesdays in IMAX what a way to beat the heat!
Any guesses which movie we watched today? I tried not to make it too easy!
It’s GoFest 2024 and Jackson Park (Windsor, Ontario) was buzzin’ with players!
It was awesome to put usernames to faces and catch up with people that we haven’t seen since before the pandemic.
We both made out with quite the ‘shiny’ stash and it was a beautiful day to get out and ‘Go’!
This week is a BIG TIME type of week!
Today we went and checked out the arcade followed by a heavy Lego sesh- 2 more sets to add to the collection!
So very true. Invisible disabilities are just as valid as visible ones. ✨
We started off the day by stretching our legs at the mall with Fanelli's Friends and Carpe Diem.
Afterwards we stopped in at Reach for The Skye to pick up our Gala pictures! Not only did we get some awesome pictures but they gave us a really cool game to play that would be perfect to pull out at the park!
In the afternoon, we took a trip to Hawaii! Well as close as we can get without leaving Windsor... Freedom Respite put on quite the luau and it was wonderful to be able to connect with them and share a good time over some music and dance.
To finish off the day, we too a nice drive out to Elaine's Garden Market and picked up some fresh fruits and vegetables. It’s a beautiful day out there and perfect for some corn!
Our industry is blessed with many incredible workers who support amazing individuals. Many of those individuals have goals to make lasting friendships and play a bigger role in their community and it’s important for us to help facilitate those needs.
There’s so much we can learn from one another and fostering a sense of community within the different programs we run is so important.
Tonight S.O.S was fortunate to meet up with Fanelli's Friends and Carpe Diem to take a look at some activities that foster these important relationships both within our community and programs.
Being able to brainstorm ideas and work together by empowering one another, and the people we serve; is how we grow (and tacos are always a welcome addition)!
Are you guys keeping dry out there?!? What a great day for ducks!
We started the day by meeting up with Ursa Major at BIG TIME Entertainment and got some gaming in.
Then we moseyed over to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 255 to meet up with Fanelli's Friends and shoot some pool!
What a great way to spend a rainy day!
Gettin’ chilly and silly at Dairy Freeze then meeting up with Fanelli's Friends and Carpe Diem Support Services for some library games!
It feels like Christmas in July! I get to hang with some pretty awesome individuals- thanks for making me feel special, you guys rock 🥰
Today we did some adventuring in our city! We took the bus to downtown and started off at Rogues Gallery Comics. It’s been a while since we visited the comic store and a lot’s changed! One thing remains the same, it’s still awesome!
After that, we visited Helou's Sports Cards & Collectibles. It’s a small place, but it is packed to the brim with all sorts of different cards!
We then went on a wild hunt to find Edde's Graffiti Alley near Maiden Lane. It was a little bit of a hunt but that alley is so incredibly beautiful!
After a quick stop to The Rabbit Hole Pawn Shop, we hopped on the 1A to the mall to grab some lunch and see if there were any new games out at Game Stop.
It was a full day, but it was nice to explore parts of Windsor that we haven’t before and try some new things. Geordie did an excellent job as navigator and getting us to where we had to go!
Visiting Dara Farm Sanctuary!
Today was a pretty special day. We’ve been to several benefit dinners but we’ve never had the opportunity to visit Dara Farm Sanctuary and today, that changed.
Matt was such a gracious host as we ventured through the sanctuary with Carpe Diem, Fanelli's Friends and Ursa Major.
We were able to feed the folks and hear some of their stories as well as learn some disheartening facts about the industry these guys were rescued from. Many pigs don’t make it past nine months old; we are so glad that’s not the story for the folks living here.
If any of you want support Dara’s, they run of off donations- here’s a link to their website!

Ursa Major and Fanelli's Friends 🥰
Today we are getting in those steps as we explore the Devonshire Mall! Check out some of the neat finds!
Today we’re exploring the county starting with a visit to Kingsville to play Bingo with Ursa Major. Everyone got a prize today but Cliff definitely improved his odds by playing ‘Mega Bingo’ with 9 cards at once!
In the afternoon we took a trip out to Essex and went to the infamous Dairy Freeze. Being a staple of all our childhoods, it was a blast from the past and the ice cream was just as tasty as ever.
On our way back to town, we stopped in at Blimeys British Store and Gift Shop! They have some neat things in there and it was a pleasant way to end the day.
Today we took advantage of the beautiful weather and got out to Ojibway Provincial Park. The berries were out as were the butterflies and it made a really refreshing walk.
Afterwards, we finished another one of Geordie’s Lego sets! How good does that pirate ship look?!? Even Adramada got in on some of the fun today; what a silly parrot 😂

We’re about to board our train home, what an exciting day! Hope you were able to tune in for some of the live feeds and follow us along the journey. Check back for a video montage in the next few days but for now; time to enjoy the sights!

What are you guys up to on this snowy weekend?
As this month draws to a close and we are amid the holidays, I find myself reflecting on this past year as I’m sure many do. This is a very exciting field. Everyday offers new adventures and something different. The people we are able to support, allow us in to their world and it is such an honour to be able to provide what is needed in that moment- be it some fun, a listening ear, teaching a new skill or maybe offering a different perspective on a challenge.
There have been a lot of wonderful moments this year but there have also been challenges. On Facebook, we often showcase the ‘highlight reels’ but it’s so important for individuals to take a look at some of the giants they have faced and how they’ve been able to overcome them in order to remind themselves of what sort of things are possible for the future.
I am really grateful to each and every one of my clients who stick with me, even though I’m sure I drive them bonkers a lot of the time. I’m also so thankful for all of the organizations in this sector and the other workers who we have been able to connect with as well as the wonderful people that are in their programs (especially this past year). All of the places and agencies that put on free or incredibly inexpensive programming, lend supports and offer events or activities that promote inclusion and foster community are so integral to this job and is another thing I can not boast enough about.
Many times people have asked me what I like about being a worker and I often default to ‘it’s a lot fun…’ because I feel like that’s shorter than what I really want to say but still gets the point across.
It is fun but it’s also so much more and hopefully this short novel expresses just a glimpse into why this is such an important field and a great place to be.
Here’s to another amazing year of fun and exciting events, investing in ourselves and our community and facing challenges and overcoming obstacles.
I hope you all have a very Happy New Year and I can’t wait to see what it holds for S.O.S!
Have a rockin’ Christmas!
I’m really blessed to have so many thoughtful clients (and their amazing families).
Here’s hoping you all have a safe and wonderfully fun Christmas break!
Christmas was in the air everywhere we went today! All the light were shining and Santa Clause was visiting the mall as we went to some of our favourite places like Game Stop and Mind Games.
We then took a long overdue trip to Essex to visit the peeps over at Lola’s Roundtable! It’s been a minute since we were out that way but it was great catching up and getting some UNO in before the New Year!
Before we drove back, we had to stop to get some cupcakes at the #1 place to get them (in my opinion); The Little House of Cupcakes and More- and we finished off the day with a bit of Mario RPG.
Here’s a hint if you have the game and this part is giving you trouble. We may have needed a bit of extra help ourselves getting through this bit…
