Broke my back carrying this piano but it was definitely worth it! Here’s something I started writing today! My mom says it sounds like rain.
All the support yesterday was truly moving. July 20th is a difficult day for me, and to see everyone keeping my fathers memory alive (as odd as it sounds) makes him seem less gone - a gift that I’m forever grateful for.
My love goes out to everyone missing someone irreplaceable, magical, ineffable, like my Dad. ❤️

This was a good hug. This photo was taken after a lot of hard work had paid off. We’d just won a big competition. My Dad was my band manager for years, which deepened our bond, but also put a lot of stress on it. I was 18 and I needed to become my own person so I started distancing myself from him (as sons often do with their fathers at that age) Not too long after I moved out, we found out he had prostate cancer, and not too long after that he was gone. My single “David” comes out tomorrow! I’m sure he would be a little embarrassed I wrote a song about him and released it...but secretly, I think he’d kinda fu***ng love it. 😝 love you dad.
It feels like there’s been a mistake, like I’m living in some alternate reality and somewhere else there’s another me that didn’t watch him die and another David that didn’t have to go. He used to tell me a lyric he loved, I’m gonna paraphrase but it went like “I’d trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday”. God, is that ever true. “David” comes out 07.20.20 and all proceeds go to Canadian Cancer Society. Forever in your memory.
