The Good Greens Food Reclamation Program improves food systems, increases access to local foods for all, and minimizes food waste the Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market, the region’s largest weekly farmers’ market boasting a season of 31 weeks annually.
Residents who do not have access to fresh foods, tend to purchase foods that are typically processed, pre-packaged and high in calories, sugar, fat, sodium and preservatives. from fast food restaurants, convenience stores, gas stations and pharmacies.
The Good Greens Food Reclamation Program has the potential to make fresh produce and foods accessible to individuals and families who may otherwise struggle to afford it.

🌱 Exciting News from Good Greens! 🌱
Introducing our new educational effort: Good Gardeners. This program aims to teach kids about the importance of nutritional food, waste reduction, and backyard gardening. Our goal is simple: ignite a passion for caring for the environment amongst Windsor’s youth.
This season, we partnered with Ready Set Go to visit 4 kindergarten classes at West Gate Public School, delivering informative presentations to the kids. Alongside our teachings, each student received a take-home vegetable to care for, providing a hands-on opportunity to reinforce their learning about local food. These seedlings were kindly donated by the wonderful people at the City of Windsor - Municipal Government horticultural department.
The students met us with smiles, and were very excited to name and care for their very own plants. We plan to expand this initiative in the Fall to visit numerous schools in the Windsor-Essex region and spread our sustainable teachings far and wide! 🌿👧👦
iHeartRadio was kind enough to feature our new educational component to Good Greens. Check out the short interview here!:
