Brancepeth Heritage Woodworks and Renovations
Thank you for stopping by! We are the art of restoration. We believe in maintaining and restoring th
We worked on this beautiful home back in 2022. The kitchen offered high ceilings, good light, and original maple floors. She just needed a little prettification, and that’s what we did! We stitched in and restored the maple floors. The customers picked a light and airy combination of white cabinets, oak butcher block countertops, and delectable turquoise subway tile. We added a shallow bank of cabinets for extra storage. A custom bulkhead with bead board doors hid electrical and plumbing doo dads, and provided even more storage.
We spent many hours in the hubbub of this family’s home. They hold a special place in our hearts. It was a joy to leave them with this light and bright kitchen!
Grant them a silent moment, these Canadians. Lest we forget.
Yet another beautiful old home with a gloriously large foyer … and no closet. A pretty armoire tried to hold all the coats, but a more permanent solution was in order! A bespoke closet, in fact. Oak five-panel doors with reclaimed hardware. Oak trim to match the rest of the home. Diamond-paned windows to mimic the home’s windows. A sweet little shelf to store shoes. A labour of love, indeed! The clients are happy, and so are the coats 😊
We just dropped off a new batch of spoons at !
“Then seek your job with thankfulness and work till further orders,
If it’s only netting strawberries or killing slugs on borders;
And when your back stops aching and your hands begin to harden,
You will find yourself a partner in the Glory of the Garden.” (Rudyard Kipling, The Glory of the Garden)
We count ourselves a partner in the glory of this particular garden 😉 Our customer wanted shades of England in his beautiful little backyard. We created a stone pathway and seating area. The back addition was graced with new cedar shake and a new (old) salvaged door.
Step 1 of a kitchen renovation in this sensational Wolseley home: restore the rock maple floors to their original lustre. Refinishing hardwood floors is finicky business, but you’ll never hear a complaint once the ram board comes up! Smooth with just the right amount of satiny sheen. Certainly worth the effort!
She’s a-finished! The basement of this historical home was dark, dingy, and cold. After new flooring, paint, a refinished staircase with brand-new railing (plus the boring stuff like electrical and plumbing), she’s bright and warm! And allow me to point out the camouflaged floor drain 👉🏻 We’re all about the details!
Light and fresh! What more could you ask of a new bathroom? Out with old and tired, in with shiny and bright!
We’re almost there!!! Spring is in the air and the end is in sight. We’ve been transforming the basement of this Tudor Revival home to a light and welcoming living space. We’re oh so close! Once completed, our customers will move down …. and we’ll move up! As they settle into their fresh basement apartment, we will take over the rest of the house, embarking on a full restoration of the main and second floors. Woodwork, floors, windows, kitchen and bathrooms …. this stately old girl will blossom! We can’t wait to get started – and to take you along for the ride!
I’ve been screaming “Uncle!” for weeks, but Old Man Winter ain’t listening. Manitoba has been caught in a vortex of back-to-back Alberta clippers and extreme cold warnings. I swear I’ve shovelled a farmers field worth of snow. Spring, where are you hiding?? Nevertheless, we are keeping busy renovating the basement of a lovely Crescentwood home. Can I help it if visions of melting icicles fill my head as I paint walls? Here’s to warmer days ahead!
If this pool rack had cheeks, I’d probably pinch ‘em! How cute is this little guy? This was a small custom job, designed to fit a mini pool table. The applewood shines beautifully. Quite the nice addition to a stellar games room!
Over Christmas, the workshop elves were whittling the hours away … and the result? Another cutting board for another brother 🤔 I do sense a theme here, but being a brother is not a prerequisite to owning one of these bad boys 😉 We love this newest Manitoba maple creation, and hope you do too!
What a year! Full of challenges and many projects, yet generously sprinkled with phenomenal customers, kindness and blessings. May your joy be unceasing as you ring out the old and welcome in the new. Happy New Year from our family!
She sure cleans up nice, doesn’t she? A fresh colour scheme, a custom set of steps, and a lovely run of brackets to top her off. All rotten wood, including the siding boards that were full of holes from insulation injections, was replaced. We skirted the porch porch in cedar shake. The steps were fashioned from reclaimed wood, while the railings and balusters were made from clear cedar and fir. Not to mention the dainty newel posts! Can you say queen of the street?
When a beloved brother-in-law (who happens to be a former butcher) requests a cutting board, you’d best deliver. Made of end-grain apple wood and Manitoba maple, this bad boy can handle any slab of meat you throw on it. Here’s hoping he pays us in brisket 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Christmas time’s a’comin ….. are you done your shopping? We just delivered a load of handcrafted wooden spoons to We use local Russian olive, Manitoba maple, apple, and tulip wood for a perfectly imperfect result. Visit for this perfect stocking stuffer or teacher gift!

The story goes … the builder of this home included hearts in both the interior and exterior to show his devotion to his lady love. Such a charming story, one the current homeowner wished to honour. At her request, we built a grand staircase from clear cedar and fir. Cut-out hearts echoed those found in the rest of the house. After all, home is where the heart is ❤️
Rest and be thankful - William Wordsworth
We intend to! Stopping the frantic pace for a few days to enjoy delicious food and the company of family and friends. Happy Thanksgiving!
Our sweltering summer has transitioned beautifully into a warm and cozy fall. We winter-weary Manitobans coax these soft autumn days into sticking around, especially when a new pergola appears in one’s backyard. Elegantly understated, we constructed this backyard addition out of Douglas fir. We stained the pergola a rich brown to match the exterior of the house (the house …. oh, my heart skips a beat. More to come on that!) We love the simple lines and restrained scale, nestling perfectly into the space.
In this whirlwind summer of back-to-back jobs and adventures with the kiddos, we still found time for little projects. This lovely, albeit weary, farmhouse table was sitting in a church parking lot and just happened to follow us home! It’s long and lean with beautifully chipped paint. We uncovered the protective top, sanded, and covered with a few coats of shellac. Simple, timeworn, but still so pretty. Eventually, we will build our forever table with oak or mahogany slabs, but in the meantime, I dare say this will do!
As we’ve mentioned before, most of these old dames do not provide adequate storage space by modern standards. This longtime customer was blessed with a large built-in cupboard in his second-floor hallway. However, the bulky fifties design left something to be desired. Out it came - revealing some dainty wallpaper underneath! - in order to design an armoire more suited to his elegant home. We constructed this Federal-esque piece out of quartersawn white oak. Egg and dart moulding was added to the top, which the customer later gold leafed. As an ode to the customer’s love of English architecture and decor, we created the shield of Durham County out of tiger maple and padauk and crowned the top of the armoire. Needless to say, our customer was “chuffed”!
In addition to Pollock's Hardware, our handmade wooden spoons can now be found at The Old House Revival Company - and we couldn't be more thrilled! Be sure to stop by for a last minute Mother's Day gift. We love local!
Sneak peek #2! This project is slowly coming together as the design is tweaked at every stage. We are so excited to have this opportunity and cannot wait to unveil the finished masterpiece!
We ask a lot of the doors in our homes. They bar your entry or bid you a gracious welcome. Doors should be rugged in strength, yet winsome in appearance. That’s not asking too much, is it? Our answer is absolutely not! We have built custom doors, like the dainty Juliet doors enclosing this closet-turned-bookcase. Old five-panel doors became sliding barn doors in a customer’s cottage. And have no fear if your antique door has seen better days - we restore them, too! We’d love to help you dress your doorways and bid boring doors adieu!
Happy glorious Easter!
Did you know ceilings are considered the fifth wall? Don’t pass up the chance to make a huge statement above your head! Anaglypta or tin tile, whether salvaged or brand new, can raise your ceiling to new heights.
So many reasons we love our old house .... original light fixtures, glass doorknobs, plaster mouldings ... Let us help you bring your original charm back to life!
It was an honour to create a custom bar for this gorgeous store in Osborne Village. Stretching on for 18 feet, we topped the bar in wide plank oak and wrapped the sides in mahogany. A lovely place to sip a hot tea after shopping!
