TADAAAAA!!! And today we proudly present our dear colleague Irina Olshevskaia who joined us in our new video! TOMORROW VIDEO RELEASE!!!

Today we introduce two new members of our consort: the soprano lute and the bass lute. Our "baby" is played by and our big bass lute by Talitha . Those two instrument were built in the 1980ies by Stephen Murphy and you will be stunned by the beautiful and rich sound in the UPCOMING VIDEO!! 2 MORE DAYS...

Playing at the Basel Lute Days was such a fabulous experience and an honor! Cornelia Demmer gave a lecture on our repertoire and instruments, and we were very well-received. What a wonderful community is the world of professional lute players💖

Das Casulana Lute Consort ist ein Ensemble für Alte Musik mit Sitz in Basel, Schweiz. Die Mitglieder lernten sich an der Schola Cantorum Basiliensis kennen und teilen die Vision, Musik für Lautenconsort wieder zu beleben. Ihr Repertoire reicht von der Renaissance bis zum Frühbarock und umfasst unter anderem Werke der Lautenistin Madalena Casulana. Sie war die erste heute bekannte Komponistin, deren Musik in Drucken veröffentlicht wurde. Sie ist die Namensgeberin des Ensembles.
Das Debutvideo des Casulana Lute Consorts mit Lautenquartetten von Nicolas Vallet entstand im Auftrag der Deutschen Lautengesellschaft. Besonderer Dank gilt auch Ryosuke Sakamoto für seine künstlerische Expertise und Ekachai Maskulrat für Durchführung und Bearbeitung der Video- und Tonaufnahmen.

Casulana Lute Consort is an Early Music ensemble based in Basel, Switzerland. The members met at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and share the vision to revitalize lute consort music. Their repertoire ranges from Renaissance to early baroque music, and includes compositions by the lutenist, Madalena Casulana. She is the first female composer known today to have had her music published, and the consort is named after her.

The Consort’s debut video was commissioned by the German Lute Society, and will be published tomorrow, Saturday June 19th🎉
