🏆 Prof. Yi Zhang is a full Professor at the School of Electronic Science and Engineering at University of Electronic Science and Technology, Chengdu, China. Prof. Yi Zhang’s research interests are in Micro NanoBiosensing, Magnetic Digital Microfluidics, Micro/Nano and MolecularSensing, Micro/Nano 3D Printing, Additive Manufacturing, 3D Bioprinting, 3D Electronics Printing, Micro/Nano Robots, Micro/Nano Materials. Prof. Yi Zhang received his PhD in 2013 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising over 70 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and 19 international patents. Prof. Yi Zhang’s Scopus Scientific Citations number is 1000 and his Hirsch index is 15. He is clearly a rising star in the field of magnetic digital microfluidics (MDM) for droplet actuation. Paper entitled “Whole-Body Control for a Torque-Controlled Legged Mobile Manipulator” has been chosen for the cover of Actuators Volume 11, Issue 11.
Cover Story: In this work, an inverse dynamics-based whole-body controller is presented for a torque-controlled quadrupedal manipulator capable of performing locomotion while executing manipulation tasks. Unlike existing methods that deal with locomotion and manipulation separately, the proposed controller can handle them uniformly, which can take into account the coupling effects between the base, the limbs, and the manipulated object. The controller tracks the desired task-space motion references based on a hierarchical optimization algorithm, given a set of hierarchies that define strict priorities and the importance of weighting each task within a hierarchy. Several simulations have been performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

Paper entitled "Monkeybot: A Climbing and Pruning Robot for Standing Trees in Fast-Growing Forests" has been chosen for the cover of Actuators Volume 11, Issue 10.
Cover Story: In this paper, we have developed a climbing and pruning robot for standing trees in fast-growing forests called Monkeybot. Its design was optimized, and related experimental research was carried out. The forest test results show that the Monkeybot could prune trees with a diameter at breast height of 10~20 cm, the average operation time for pruning a tree was less than 30 s, the winter pruning effect was ideal, the maximum climbing height was 7.18 m, and the maximum pruning diameter was 2.79 cm. The development of the machine can provide equipment support for the research of fast-growing forest standing tree pruning and nurturing technology.
